  1. I read the 8th edition of this book before we left for Peru. We are now in Peru and I can say that this book is basically useless. Opening hours, procedures, prices, and amenities have all changed, sometimes dramatically. Honestly, look elsewhere for a travel book, or better yet, use the Internet.

  2. Lonely Planet did a great job throughout Arequipa, Puno and Cusco both for hostels and food recommendations as well as how to get around in a country that has an unregulated tourist industry.
