    1. This book is an antidote to the other stuff I have currently lumbered myself with – an uninspiring novel (so far) which I had been looking forward to and now don’t understand why; a turgid study of English folk music (I’m on a mission to reread all the essential books on that so it’s a must); and a horribly written academic book about the horrible subject of torture porn movies (it’s the only book on the subject).Yes, the title of this book is rather pass the sick bag please. It was ac [...]

    2. Awesome is an overworked word, but fittingly describes the photographs in this 10 pound coffee table book. Want to escape the worries of the world? Lose yourself viewing people and places from National Geographic's Image Collection archives.

Geo. is amazing, in my book, and Annie Griffiths is a stellar photographer and writer. The whole book is divided into sections; Light, Composition, Palette, Time, & Wonder. 9. Amanda Smith's book review: I've never outgrown the enjoyment of flipping through a picture book…honestly who has? This book is a compilation of some of National Geographic’s finest work from all over the world. Focusing on different aspects of photography and incorporating the challenges that a photographer faces, this book gives the reader insight and greater appreciation for this collection. An enjoyable read for any fan of photography.

    10. What is the defenition of beauty? Although it's full of great photographs i feel like it's kind of biased, the author included some mediocre photos shot by her!! some other photos does not even worth to be described as beautiful IMO, i've seen better on 500Px and flickr. But taking the book as a whole, the photos along with description and Annie's thoughts was not a very bad experience, 3 stars.

    11. National Geographic magazine was always a favorite read of mine, half for the articles, half for the photos. The quality, detail, color and light in the photos made them simply stunning. This book, captured that well known National Geographic detail for photos. The sections on Light and Palette had some of my favorite photos.

    12. Pictures are amazing. Made me want to pick up my camera and capture some of the incredible pictures. Captions are brief and understated. Expositions on light and composition are full of incite. Photojournalist extraordinaire had me re-thinking that I would like to that.

    15. I want to brand my memory with these images. I can't imagine how difficult it was for these editors to dig through the National Geographic archives and narrow them down to this. But I would have loved to have been a fly in that room.

    16. Simply beautiful is *such* an understatement! These are photos you will look at time and again. And being National Geographic, you know they're not photoshopped, and they're printed as wonderfully as they possibly can be. Please read!
