    1. This was a follow-up to Lost Antartica; that book didn't have a map and mentioned many animals for which I wanted more context. This book provided it all. The various experts assembled to discuss the geological history, the animals and the history of exploration were so skilled in putting together thorough articles which weren't overwhelming with details. The photography was also very beautiful and touching.

    2. This is a coffee table/encyclopedia type book. I got it at a time when I was reading some exploration history. It's pretty interesting on the geology, environment, climate, natural history and exploration history of the antarctic. An amazing place. Highest, dryest continent. Surrounded by icy Ocean and insulated from other ocean currents by the circumpolar river. Great photos too.
