'The idea of excitement' brought to life!Nary a story flagged! 5 star holiday season romances with a touch of spice and a dash of cheer that are all excellent inclusions centering around Christmas time in one way or another. 5. I found the anthology Dashing All the Way through two of the authors that I had met at the Historical Romance Retreat in 2017. While I had not read anything by any of the authors, meeting these two charming ladies in person made me extremely excited to read the anthology. And being the beginning of November, I’m absolutely ready for some Christmas cheer! In general, I absolutely enjoyed this anthology. It has absolutely added new authors and series to my To Be Read pile and I look forward to s [...]

    8. This anthology includes stories from 4 authors, 2 I am very familiar with and 2 somewhat new to me. All the stories have strong, intelligent, and brave heroines.A Rake for Christmas by Eva Devon explores a common storyline. A smart but quiet wallflower finds a rake to teach her to be desirable. Of course it all backfires when the one who comes to desire her the most is the very rake who swore he would never marry. Ms Devon’s characters and conversations are delightful and though you know where [...]

    9. I enjoyed these Regency Christmas novellas that featured intrigue, spycraft, jewel thieves, and love. The stories seemed a little longer than the usual novellas in an anthology. There was more time to develop the story and the characters, while still moving along quickly. This anthology is great for snuggling in on a cold winter's night, or any time of year.In "A Rake for Christmas" by Eva Devon, Lady Evangeline Pennyworth feels that no one has noticed her after several seasons, so she gathers h [...]

    10. Really loved 3 of the 4 stories included here! And it was the three who were gently intertwined (Essex, Snow, and Bradly, with slightly overlapping plots and settings) that worked the best for me. "A Rake for Christmas" by Eva Devon - the first story, and my least favorite. I never really connected with the author's writing style, and didn't find either the hero or heroine that interesting, though I would read more about the many happily-married dukes and duchesses in attendance at the house par [...]

    11. This is a must-read anthology. Absolutely brilliant novellas.A Rake for Christmas by Eva Devon Wallflower Lady Evangeline Pennyworth would like to be desired and no one can teach her better than London's most notorious rake, Anthony Basingstoke. 13. What a great collection of Christmas stories. With some great additions by wonderful authors, it's a great addition to the Christmas season.Dashing All the Way by Eva DevonEvangeline wants to be away from her family, who aren't just difficult but can also be unkind. In desperation she looks to Anthony Baginstoke to help her marry, but she secretly falls for him. It'll take a little Christmas magic for him to realize she's a treasure as well. Featuring a wallflower and rake, a high society widow and a thief, two former lovers/ code breakers and a thief and a spy this collection is an interesting mix.“A Rake for Christmas” by Eva Devon follows the typical regency trope. 15. This is a wonderful collection of novellas from some of the best authors of historical romance! What is not to love?Eva Devon -A Rake for ChristmasMy heart is singing. Truly I feel joy after reading this novella. Lady Evangeline has Ben a wallflower and it determined to find happiness and break away from her family. In a surprising move she gets the courage to ask Anthony Basingstoke, a handsome rake ( or so she thought) for his help in making her desirable so that she could find a match. In an [...]

    16. I really enjoyed these stories. The women are strong, capable and different. As usual, the men are trying to protect the women whether they need it or not.A Rake for Christmas: Lady Evangeline is tired of being a wallflower. Tired of the way her parents treat her. She needs to get a husband and get out of their house. So, she asks a rake, Anthony, to help her be more desirable. Anthony is not in the market for a wife, but there is something about Evangeline. Up On The Rooftops: Caledonia is tire [...]

    17. These four historical romance novellas, all set during the Christmas season, were well-written and fun to read. “A Rake for Christmas” by Eva Devon - Lady Evangeline Pennyworth is tired of being a wallflower and asks Anthony Basingstoke to teach her how to be desirable. Anthony saw his parents' destructive marriage and does not ever plan to let passion overtake him. “Up on the Rooftops” by Elizabeth Essex - Caledonia (Cally) Bowmont, a widow, looks forward to the cheer of the Christmas s [...]

    18. A Rake for Christmas by Eva DevonThe wallflower is finally ready to be seen. Rake Anthony Basingstoke has his own demons that keep him from the marriage mart. But will helping Evangeline find love break him in ways he couldn't possibly imagine?Up on the Rooftops by Elizabeth EssexReformed thief Tobias McTavish finds himself in quite the quandary, when someone impersonates his [...]

    19. I did love the first story of Anthony and Evangeline. She slowly came out of her shell and realized her love for Anthony. He was fun to watch as he fell in love as well. Together they made an awesome love story! The story with Callie and Toby was my least favorite. I did enjoy Toby's part of the story, but Callie just struck me as a mean, cruel and immature girl. She started out by dragging Toby through the crowded ball room and introducing him to everyone even though she knew he was trying to be [...]

    20. This is a fun anthology of 4 novellas, with only superficial overlap among them. The Christmas season is the time period, but not a specific character in any story. Eva Devon's is a regency romance between the wallflower and the rake she asks for help. The other three are about thieves and spies and really honor and love. Elizabeth Essex's story is the reformed thief and the widow. Heather Snow's is the lady spy in disguise and Celeste Bradley is two thieves who find each other (related to her L [...]

    21. A Rake for Christmas buy Eva Devon - 5 starsI really enjoyed Evangeline and Anthony's story! This is tied to the Duke's Club series and after meeting some of those characters, I really need to go and read those, pronto!!Up on the Rooftops by Elizabeth Essex - 4 starsI also enjoyed Cally and Tobias's story! It is always interesting when the H/H are of different classes as it adds another element to the story.A Very Debonair Lady Claire by Heather Snow- 4 starsI really enjoyed Claire and Andrew's [...]

    22. I must say this collection put me on the road to Christmas feeling. While I would not go five stars I can give four. I liked each novella and each authors way of unfolding their story. I enjoyed the plot lines as well as the characters but felt like they were just to short of a read at times. While reading each novella, I felt like I wanted more. It could actually be because I enjoyed each one so much! To be honest, this is a collection of good reads. Ones that you will enjoy and feel lighter in [...]

    23. BEST NOT DASH. THIS IS A COLLECTION TO BE SAVOUREDFour lovely little stories that mix and meld just enough to tantalise, each with a happy ending, each with an abundance of bittersweet prelude to that ending. These are full of people who have felt hurt, who expect more pain, and who get, in the end, some measure of acceptance. The characters are nicely sketched, some mere outlines, but, for such delicate stories, quite a few are fully colored. The stories take standard tropes and build them to bea [...]

    24. I loved it!A really lovely collection of Christmas romances and my only regret is that they could not be longer stories! Just when I would be so much into the story and the characters, then it would soon be over! This should tell you how much I really enjoyed them and it was heartbreaking that there was not more. Though to be honest, I do feel we could have dome follow ups there (hint hint!!) but yes, for this time of year, this anthology was wonderful, heartwarming and what the doctor prescribed [...]

    25. These are romantic, amusing and captivating stories. The characters are likable, fascinating and funny, brave, charming and romantic. Each story has it's own unique twists and surprises, but all steal your heart. It's the perfect book to read at Christmas time, so put it at the top of your TBR list.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

    26. There are several delicious treats in store in this anthology. A new “Liars” short story from Celeste Bradley is enough to make this book worthwhile, but bonuses include short stories by Eva Devon, Elizabeth Essex and Heather Snow. I particularly enjoyed Devon’s “A Rake for Christmas”, with one of the most appealing “love-resistant” rakes I’ve met recently. While they are Christmas themed, they are not overwhelmingly holiday-ish, and will be enjoyable at any time of year.

    27. Four fabulous holiday historical novellas bundled together. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and curl up in your favorite blanket and prepare to be entertained. These reads are fast-paced with plenty of drama and suspense with great characters. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and the stories held by interest throughout. A good read.

    28. Not Christmasy! This is for feminist who want to be men! It is not about Christmas, it's a Sex, spy bookl The only good one, which is why I gave it three stars, were for Eva Devon!I do not recommend! Thanks!carolintallahassee 👒

    29. These wonderful regency novellas feature strong, smart heroines looking for love or looking to solve a mystery and finding love along the way. The different stories are filled with fun, suspense, adventure, and lots of romance!
