    1. I mean, I essentially skimmed this (my only talent) and finished it in like an hour? And it wasn't completely terrible; it just missed being great by trying to be a sweet romance. I actually tend to like these small-scope sci-fi books. They offer a great opportunity for exploring the nature of humanity. Books like The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet? You all know I ate that book up. The issue here is the lack of genuine exploration. There are some interesting ideas and concepts here, but nothin [...]

    2. The Last Girl on Earth by Alexandra Blogier is a young adult science fiction fantasy that was heavy on the romance and light on the science fiction/fantasy. Now despite my low rating there were moments that I would start to like this one but in the end I just had too many questions and concerns with the world building to rate higher. The story centers around Li who is a human teenager that is the only human that survived when Abdoloreans came to Earth and wiped out the rest. She was given to an A [...]

    3. So, I really liked that this was a quick read. I feel like every book lately is like 500 pages! It also does feel more like a contemporary, but the romance is sweet.

    4. Check out more reviews @ Perspective of a WriterLi is the last girl on earth at least that is what her alien father told her. Raised with her alien sister Zo she has trained all her life for this role. Keeping this secret has been tough but she's about to graduate and the only way she'll survive conscription is to make officer. Then she meets Ryn. He's a distraction that may have learned her secret The short reviewI love speculative sci-fi and am pretty open to believing whatever outrageous prem [...]

    5. You can find the full review and all the fancy and/or randomness that accompanies it at It Starts at Midnight 1.5*The premise of this book drew me in immediately- the last human being on Earth!? Yes, of course I needed to read it. Not only was Li the last human, but she had to try to pretend she was just "one of the aliens". And I mean, that is how the story went down, don't get me wrong. Only that was about the extent of it. Aliens, one human girl with a case of insta-love, and incredibly lim [...]

    6. I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I love when books remind me of previous books. I think I read somewhere among all of the reviews for The Last Girl on Earth about it feeling sort of like the 5th wave - and I totally agree. Which is probably why I loved it so much. The beginning got me instantly hooked and I wanted to know why these characters had freaking gills! I really liked all of the characters with in this book but I guess I was sort of wanting more. Yea [...]

    7. I definitely went into this with 5th Wave feelings and I got a strong heroine and ROMANCE. Part of me is of two reviews. The first review is that if I analyze this simply from the book description then its a 3 out of 5 stars. Because I expected more fear, more training, more angst about Li being the last human! Truly this book could have been exceptional if the romance took a back seat. There was a lot of good things brought up (humans are inherently evil???) but there wasn't as much sci-fi as th [...]

    8. ***ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review***Alexandra Blogier's The Last Girl on Earth is a YA sci-fi romancenda.Li is the last human on the planet inhabited by the aliens that killed off her species. She struggles with keeping her secret and fitting in. When she meets Ryn, she finds someone that she connects with, but what will happen if he discovers her secret?I was drawn in by the blurb of this book. It sounded interesting and unique, something that would make a great novel. But [...]

    9. So, I'll likely be in the minority here. I was very unhappy with this read. The world building is lazy. Our aliens look exactly like humans, except they have gills, they're very smart, and very agile. They wear jeans. Let me say againey wear jeans. Our girl has a case of insta-love with an alien-boy. Okay, they're all aliens except for her. But alien-boy has zero personality. He's handsome, though (looking thoroughly human except the gills - and he looks good in - say it again - jeans).Human-girl [...]

    10. 1.5 Stars“I know I have no choice. I know this is my life. But this life is a lie.”I’m disappointed. That’s probably how I can best summarizes me feelings about The Last Girl on Earth. I thought the premise had so much promise - Li as the lone human on Earth and her personal and emotional struggle, plus I was excited to learn more about the alien race that had taken over Earth and what lead to the alien apocalypse. Unfortunately, I felt like the story glossed over everything. The story s [...]

    11. I received a free e-ARC through NetGalley from the publishers at Random House Children’s/Delacorte Press.Li is the last human left on Earth. When the Abdoloreans first came to her planet, they were there to help, but humans proved too destructive to survive. Li’s father took her from the planet before the nuclear bombs went off and returned with her when it was safe, raising her as one of his own alongside his Abdolorean daughter, Zo. Li has always lived in secret, and she must work twice as [...]

    12. I don't think this book is getting any credit for what it is - and for what it is, it's good. It's a YA romance first and foremost, so shelving it as sci-fi or fantasy is secondary at best. For me, this read as very YA - not overly descriptive, very fast paced, almost middle grade if not for the romance. And for a YA audience, that's totally appropriate. If anything, it's somewhat underdeveloped and too short. Things like the last 10% could have been more in-depth. An epilogue would have given i [...]

    13. This was a super quick read, it took me maybe 2 hours?? Anyways it's a pretty short book. So I really liked the idea of the book! I liked the beginning of it and it could've been really good, however it focused way too much on the romance. Like they get together pretty quick, and when there's anything dramatic it didn't really feel dramatic they didn't really have strong emotions. I really wanted to learn more about the Abdoloreans and I wanted them to feel more alien I guess?? Even though it sa [...]

    14. This book, viewed in a vacuum, is mediocre and non-remarkable.Viewed in comparison to the potential hinted at by its cover and premise, The Last Girl on Earth is IRRITATING and an offensive waste of space. Issues that should have been explored a whole lot more or AT ALL:• The GENOCIDE and the human scientific experimentation that is just brought up like twice. This, paired with what seems to be the essentially authoritarian and repressive nature of the Abdoloreans' way of life, is deeply inter [...]

    15. This was a book I REALLY wanted to like. I loved the concept of the novel and how unique all the ideas were in this novel. The author truly has an incredible imagination and I applaud her creativity! One of the main problems I had with this book was the world building. I felt like there were a lot of plot holes and not enough elaboration on how this worked in this world. It all seemed rushed and unexplained. The characters in this book were fine, but not very memorable at all.I also was not a fan [...]

    16. After reading several of the reviews on this book I was a little nervous to read this but I’m glad I did! The reviews prepared me to not expect a super sci fi book. Yes there are aliens but that’s about as far into sci fi it gets. That part is a little disappointing but the story overall is great! I really liked the characters and the dynamics!

    17. I received an arc from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was SUCH A QUICK READ! I've never read such a short book in my entire life! The synopsis sounded so great, but li. well as everyone else seemed flat and rushed to me. I also have so many questions that haven't been answered!

    18. This started off as a really fun read, but it turned about 90% through into something else.SPOILERS AHEADLi is raised to be better than human to hide herself amongst the aliens. Some things really bothered me about this book. Here are a few: That she could kill a "superior being" almost easily, that she thought she could dispose of the body by throwing it in a lake and having it go away. After being grilled about these situations she turns and hide tail instead of telling her father and getting [...]

    19. Li and her friends are about to enter Assessment which is where they will be tested and placed for positions across the galaxy for their mandatory 7-year conscription period. Her father is demanding and she has to spend a lot of her time in practice and study. It isn't only that she wants to succeed that drives her on however, her life depends upon it. After an assessment period of its own, Earth was invaded shortly after Li was born and the human race exterminated. Her father, a diplomat, saved [...]

    20. Thanks to the aliens that tried to destroy humanity, Li is the only human left on earth. To hide her secret, she trained relentlessly with her adoptive father to blend in. Her secret could be exposed, however, when she falls in love with an alien boy. Last Girl on Earth felt like a B-list Disney Channel movie, disturbingly glossing over its main plot points of genocide and murder in the name of a first crush. It’s pretty cover hides a mediocre and cliche story. It should be noted that Alexandr [...]

    21. 1.5 starsLi is the last human girl on Earth after the aliens, who used to be friendly, decided the humans were killing the Earth and in turn, decided to kill the humans. These aliens look like Li except for their superior minds and bodies and the gills on the sides of their neck. Her benefactor and now father emphasizes how Li must follow the rules if she wants to survive, which means come home quickly, don't socialize often, and don't make close friends. But when Li meets Ryn, she's swept up in [...]

    22. This is a tough one as I have so many thoughts and feelings.Pro: It's a super quick read (roughly 250-ish pages)Pro: It is a simplistic story without a lot of confusionCon: Little to no world buildingCon: Very little character developmentCon: The last 20% of the book has everything crammed into itCon: Far too much detail was given where it wasn't neededCon: The ending**Huge THANKS to the publisher for sending an arc so I could review! This in no way affected my thoughts and feelings.**---------- [...]

    23. *I received this book from NetGalley & Delacorte Press in exchange for an honest review*Review: I'll be honest, I was a little worried going into this book based on its low ratings on . I was definitely pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't as bad as it was being made out to be. So lets start with the things I loved. I really liked the whole premise of the story. Li being the last human left on Earth, trying to hide and fit in with the alien race, the Abdoloreans, who took over the planet. [...]

    24. I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Li is a human girl. Not a big issue, right, being on Earth and all? Except it is, because when the Abdolrean race came to Earth, they killed all of the humans, making their race extinct. Li was saved by a Abdolrean, one who knew her biological mother and father and swore that he would protect Li and raise her as his own daughter. So Li has had to learn to survive like an extraterrestrial race - one that dominates hu [...]

    25. I really liked this book, even though it wasn’t what I was expecting. It is a wonderful story about family, trust and friendship with a nice romance and some aliens thrown in to make it interesting. Except for the aliens and the futuristic setting it reads more like a contemporary, but that is ok.I enjoyed Li and her family. It was nice to read a book with such a solid family, no major drama unfolding between them. Li was adopted by her father and raised as one of them. This meant a lot of tra [...]

    26. *Review is actually 3.5 stars.**Thanks to Netgalley and Delacorte Press for providing The Last Girl On Earth by Alexandra Blogier for me to enjoy and then post an honest review of this book. The plot sounds amazing and it is, for the most part. When I first read the description of this book, I wanted to have it right away and I'm happy I got to read it pretty soon after requesting it, the thing is, the more I read, the more I realized, it was not what I was expecting.Okay so like the description s [...]

    27. skyrosereviews/2018/It seems like I am on a roll, another book from my to-be-read pile is complete which gives me great joy - perhaps more joy than I ended up getting from this book. In its 250 pages it created something that felt more like a synopsis of a book rather than a fully fledged story. It is as if Blogier had been more interested in the title of this book rather than creating a feasible and well fleshed out story.I've read plenty of books with bad writing, bad characters, bad narrative [...]

    28. I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewThe blurb for this book caught my attention right away. I thought that it was an interesting take on a person caught behind enemy lines. It made me curious about what Li's life would be like and how she would manage to hide amongst aliens for so long without raising suspicion. I also thought that the cover was a nice touch. I liked how prominent the stars on the cover were and how small Li was to denote how sma [...]

    29. Li has a secret. She is a human passing as an Abdolorean on the Earth that they conquered. The Abdoloreans wiped out all human life on Earth as a punishment for the way humans treated the planet. Li was saved by an Abdolorean scientist who has raised and trained her to pass as an alien. Now that she is sixteen, Li is undergoing the tests that all young people her age must pass in order to determine what rank they will have when they are conscripted for seven years of mandatory military service.
