    1. Patrick and Catherine Rourke had settled into Wicklow Cottage in old Sydney Town once Patrick received his ticket-of-leave, and were raising a brood of children. Thomas was the eldest and his childhood had been spent in the company of his best friend, Daku. Daku’s father Shaun had grown up with Patrick, so it fell to reason that the two boys would be best friends. But as they grew older, circumstances around the area between the military and the Aboriginals became hostile and Tom rarely saw hi [...]

    2. If you have not read "Patrick's Journey," you must before reading this book. While not a series, per se, "Diary of a Prodigal" is the story of Patrick's son and there are references to Patrick and his life that would be good to know. Diary is a different story, but no less profound. Roy is able to be precise in his descriptions, without losing the reader in the detail. His portrayal of the emotions experienced throughout both tales is astoundinge reader is able to connect so well with the charac [...]

    3. Verry well writenAlways enjoy a good history storytelling. Couldnt put book down and read every minute i had spare.was looking for book 3 but alas.

    4. This exceedingly well-written historical novel is set in Australia in the early 1800's. It follows the life and times of young Tom Rourke, son of Patrick Rourke that we first encountered in "Patrick's Journey" a couple of years ago. Twenty years have since passed. This book focuses on Tom, who is given a diary and begins writing in it. So the reader witnesses his story as well as historical developments in the emerging nation. I love the idea of a narrative via a diary as I am also inclined to w [...]

    5. DIARY OF A PRODIGAL is a sequel to my first novel PATRICKS JOURNEY. However, a reader does not need to have read Patrick's Journey in order to enjoy Diary Of A Prodigal. While Its genre is historical fiction it is an easy to read action/adventure with a touch of romance type of tale based in early Australia and Ireland.
