    1. A different choice for me. Poe's works are so widely known and have been re-published or turned into TV/film so many times I know many of the stories without actually having read more than maybe 2 of them. And while I've read some graphic novels I've never tried Manga so lots of new experiences all round. Not sure what to expect with Manga but with this graphic novel it seemed to be exactly the same but you start at the back and work forward. That was a bit weird at first but reading it from th [...]

    2. I was sent this book by the publishers for a honest review. All these opinions are my own and thank you so much to the publishers for sending me a copy!"This is a beautiful manga of someone of the well known Edgar Allan Poe's poems. The pictures in this tell the story of the poems beautifully and actually mak should understand the poems better.I've never read a manga before but I have always been so intrigued by the Poems by Edgar Allan Poe and so I definitely had to request a copy. The pictures [...]

    3. NetGalley review.Poe goes manga! Uno-dos-tres! Rumba! To tell the truth, I was never big fan of Poe and I guess I will never be. I tried The Red Masque Of Death and yawned almost all the way (it was a DNF. No surprise.). For me it lacked the impact, some hight notes and something truly gripping. So, if you are a Poe fan, explain why you love him so much, and I will try to understand. But I might end in a disaster, so proceed with your own risk. So, I was a little sceptical about Manga Classic ad [...]

    4. First off, I want to give a huge thank you to NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.Synopsis: This book is based off the classic stories by Edgar Allan Poe. The book is a manga modernized version of the stories. The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe includes; The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death and The Fall of the House of Usher. This graphic novel is targeted for young adult and teenage readers. [...]

    5. Manga Classics: The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe First things first: I received this book through NetGalley. Summary: The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe is a brilliant collection of some of his best-known stories: The Tell Tale Heart (a murder s haunting guilt), The Cask of Amontillado (a story of brilliant revenge), and The Fall of the House of Usher (an ancient house full of very dark secretes). Also included in this collection are The Mask of the Red Death (horrors of the Plague ), and the most famo [...]

    6. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewReally the only reason this got 4 stars instead of 5 for me is because I haaate the Fall of the House of Usher. I get that it's one of Poe's famous works and I totally understand the decision to include it in this volume but it's just so much longer than the other stories and I feel like there's a ton of unnecessary rambling in it that makes my eyes glaze over. I would have rather seen the Pit and the Pendulum but [...]

    7. I was so excited when I found this available on Netgalley. My excitement increased when I found out that this book contains 5 Poe's exciting stories (not to mention that one of them is my ultimate favorite), they are:- The Tell-Tale Heart- The Cask of Amontillado- The Raven- The Masque of Red Death- The Fall of the House of UsherBUT, sadly, the more I read, the more I realize that this book is actually NOT what I expected. I really enjoy The Tell-Tale Heart. I think that story is the best one he [...]

    8. 4 stars. Some of these translate better than others, but Poe is hard to emulate and this edition does a decent enough job with the material and the art. Review to come.

    9. * Received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you very much! This doesn’t affect the review in any way. My opinions are, as always, my own.*4.5 starsOnce again, I never read the original book and to be honest I don't really know what to think of it. The manga is divided into 5 short stories. And some of them are really tiny! I have no idea how they are in the original classic but in this one, although some are a bit difficult to understand since [...]

    10. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I was never a big classics reader but over the recent years, I wanted to read more classics. Never would I think I would be reading classics in the form of a manga. I absolutely loved that manga was used to translate Edgar Allan Poe’s dark and heart-racing stories and the artists did a fantastic job.Without any knowledge of or reading any Poe’s stories, I found myself entrapped in his mysterious, dark and cre [...]

    11. There is something magical about reading the classics in manga format. Stacy King does it again by capturing a collection of Edgar Allen Poe's stories and turning them into a beautiful narrative that fits brilliantly with the gorgeous art. The way these volumes are done leaves a lasting impact on the reader, especially if it's a classic written in a form of old English that is difficult to interpret. I think these are magnificent for middle grade or high school students and a must have for any b [...]

    12. I received a free e-copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I hadn't realised that these stories were horror related, but I thought they were quite good although 1 or 2 were a little boring. Also, I don't think that it was a great idea to turn all of these stories in manga form as some of them were mostly narrations.

    13. Review originally posted at RabidReads.4.5 starsI saw that Stormi at Books, Movies and Review Oh my! got an Edgar Allan Poe manga for review from NetGalley, I decided I had to have it. I love Edgar Allan Poe and I thought the idea of reading his stories with illustrations would be fun. I was very excited that approved to review it. This is my first manga and my first digital comic. It took me a little bit to figure out the reading order (this book does include instructions on how to read a manga [...]

    14. This review can also be found on my blog: graphicnovelty2/2017/11/1I am typically not a fan of Manga books, but I was intrigued to read it in comparison to Gareth Hinds’s adaptation of Poe’s work, with both works coming out within months of each other. The Tell-Tale Heart (art by Virginia Nitouhei)- The first story was challenging for me, as I felt the unnamed narrator was too perfect looking (aka Manga-like). But once I got past that, the illustrations told the story very effectively. The Cas [...]

    15. This Manga Classic in particular was awesome. Poe’s stories are already dark and haunting without pictures to help you get an idea of what’s going on but, with the pictures the stories are even better. My favorite story of Poe’s has always been the Tell-Tale Heart and this book made it more haunting. Being able to actually the characters and their actions along with the writing makes the stories easier to understand and imagine. I think the idea of Manga Classics is genius. Turning classic [...]

    16. I got this of Netgalley.3.5-4 stars. This is an illustrated collection of some of Poe's works. I enjoyed all but the last one (The Fall of the House of Usher - I couldn't really tell you what I read half the time). The artwork is beautiful and I definitely enjoyed the creepy and strange stories/poems in this collection. I haven't read any of Poe before, and I probably won't look up more of it, but I enjoyed this^^ I was right, though, in that the manga definitely made the works a lot more fun to [...]

    17. The artwork on the cover initially attracted me to my first Manga Classic, The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe, but I was completely blown away by the detail in every illustration. The interpretation of each story was impressive. You can tell a lot of research went into this retelling. The book also adds little-known facts about Poe, his writing and his life, which is a nice touch. I look forward to reading more Manga Classics.I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

    18. I received a copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is so spooky and good! I love Edgar Allan Poes work, and this is no exception! Pictures make any book better!

    19. Super creepy tales from the master of horror, wonderfully reproduced in Manga. Full review: booksmjb/2017/09

    20. This was an interesting version of one of my favorite collections. I am glad to see that someone is keeping these stories alive for the youth of today.

    21. I received an advanced copy of Manga Classics: The Stories of Edgar Allen Poe from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. Edgar Allen Poe’s stories have been transformed into almost every media possible, so it should come as no surprise that he’s finally made his way into manga form. Five of his most famous works are included in this novel, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Masque of the Red Death, The Raven, and the Fall of the House of Usher. This book is rele [...]

    22. I got a review copy through Netgalley and therefore, page numbers might be off. This is an illustrated collection of stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe. The drawings were all in black and white, which made the stories that much creepier, in my opinion. I thought the collection was well done but it was also felt a little mismatched due to their being a different art style for each story/poem. Because each story/poem was drawn by a different person, I am going to review each one separately. The Te [...]

    23. only my second manga book. I really like Poe's work, so that was why I picked this book. I enjoyed it. It's still taking me some type to figure out the way to read it. But it does give his work justice. It was cool to see an artist take on the stories.

    24. When I was young, a half century or so ago, there was a line of educational comics called Classics Illustrated. These presented classic public domain works of literature in a comic book format. The art tended to be static and pedestrian, difficult or disturbing plot material got left out, and very little of the stirring language that made these works classics remained. But they read fast, and had helpful pictures for kids not ready to tackle Cliff’s Notes. There have been several revivals and i [...]

    25. This Works Surprisingly WellI turned to this volume as a bit of a lark, being curious as to how Poe could be translated to modern style manga. I was surprised and pleased with the presentation, and especially impressed by how much of the eldritch feeling of these particular tales was enhanced by the artwork. The selection of tales, (The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, The Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, The Tell Tale Heart), is classic, and for a new reader they would ser [...]

    26. As always, Manga Classics adaptations does a great job interpreting classic stories. However, this might have been a miss with me. The artwork was beautiful, as always, but the storytelling and the pace was a little stagnating with some the short stories. This version of Poe's stories may have a hard time grabbing a young reader audience, especially if they are not interested in the story. This edition consisted of manga versions of Poe's works and some of them were adapted beautifully:The Tell- [...]

    27. Great manga version of the most famous of Poe’s tales. This volume of Edgar Allen Poe tales includes The Raven, The Tell Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Fall of the House of Usher and The Mask of the Red Death. All are famous as Poe’s best work. The adaptation of The Raven holds up the best as it is included in its entirety. Even though I have previously read this work many times and saw it as an adaptation on The Simpsons, I believe this is the best version that I have ever encounte [...]

    28. I really enjoyed the book. The first thing I noticed though is that when I started reading the ebook edition it started from the back of the book. I had to skip to the last page,315, to get to the beginning of the book. That could just be an error on Adobe part but I wanted to mention it. I am a big fan of Edger Allan Poe so I feel honored to have had the chance to read this. I have read all his works and this one has the best classics. My favorite was The Tell Tale Heart, it was excellent! The [...]
