    1. 4.25 starsPublic Service Announcement: Your heart may be aggressively removed from your chest upon completion of this novel.I buddy read this book with my lovely blog sister, Sonya. She told me to tell you guys that she will be going on a long trip. So, if you don’t hear from her for a while, do not be alarmed. "Sign up for War Poppy.” she said. “We can buddy read! It will be fun!” she said. Fast forward to 12:50 a.m. this morning when I got an email from her that started like this…"OM [...]

    2. 3.5 STARS This book deals with the very dark and heartbreaking sides of PTSD. The story doesn’t end in a cliffhanger and most will deem by definition a romance story shouldn’t end. So you have been warned. I was left miserable once I finished.I liked the writing and the delivery and quite honestly who doesn’t love an underground fighter hero? The heroine and her deceased husband and the hero all grew up together. Through scattered flashbacks we find that Poppy has always harbored feelings [...]

    3. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 HEARTBREAKING STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐“You bring me peace when all I know is war.”You know that feeling you get when you know you’re about to be ruined? That gut instinct that kicks in your fight or flight instinct? You know the one that you should NEVER ignore because if you do, your ass is grass? Yea… I ignored the crap out of that feeling. And what did it get me? Me sobbing at 1:45am in the morning and messaging my blog partner that she’s royally fucked with this book. I mi [...]

    4. NOW LIVE* US* UK*"Brandon O'Kieffe was my first crush, my first kiss, and the first boy to ever break my heart"This book! Gah, I seriously don't have enough words in my vocabulary to even describe how much this book killed my soul. L.P Lovell and Stevie J. Cole are evil authors for doing this to me, but I will never get enough of their writing. War Poppy is the story of what happens when your whole life shatters around you and you're left standing in the ruin. Brandon lost his best friend, Conno [...]

    5. Blog Tour & Giveaway!!My heart is freaking BROKEN!! How the heck am I supposed to move on after this??? I fell in love with Brandon and Poppy. Absolutely in love with their story. I felt everything with them. The lost opportunity. The second chance. Their loss, their grief, their love. And I was so freaking happy that they had each other. I was brutalized by the horror show that was Brandon's mind. I cannot even fathom what it is like to live with PTSD after a war tour. I can't wrap my brain [...]

    6. 4.5 "sometimes love ain't enough" stars„Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there…I do not sleep. I am the thousand winds that blow…“It started with a tragedy, with a loss of Connor Blaine's life in combat. And it changed lives of two people left behind. His best friend and war buddy Brandon O'Kieffe and his wife, now widow Poppy Turner. They were a trio, best childhood friends who shared more than the sense of friendship, they shared the sense of gravity, the completion and unit [...]

    8. Genre:General Fiction/RomanceType: Standalone Book 1 of War seriesPOV: First Person - DualRating: Brandon O’Kieffe was a soldier who lost his life the moment he lost his best friend Connor in war. As the sole survivor, guilt weighted him down on a daily basis that he struggled to keep his promise to take care of Connor's wife.Poppy Blaine not only lost her husband but also her best friend. Growing up together, the three of them were inseparable. When one was gone, both left behind had only eac [...]

    9. ***** 4 Stars *****"Two lost souls trying to save each other from unsalvageable events. She may be my hope, but I'm surely her destruction."War Poppy is a beautiful love story between a grieving widow and a broken soldier. It deals with difficult topics and complex issues. It's not a feel good romance, but it will touch your heart nonetheless. It all started with Connor's death. Brandon feels guilty for being the one to survive. He feels empty and worthless, and he's also suffering from severe P [...]

    10. "A friend is someone who understands your past, accepts you for all your wrongs, and who carries you when no one else will."Let me start by saying this book will not be an easy read. There won't be hearts and flowers. You won't be doing thisor thisbut more of this" They say the people who are left behind are the ones who suffer the most when it comes to death and ain't that the truth" War Poppy is definitely a captivating and heartbreaking story. Like I said it isn't an easy book to read, it deal [...]

    11. Where do I start, where do I start? I love Stevie J. Cole & L.P. Lovell as a duo. They have written one of my favorite dark romances ever; so when I saw they were releasing another book together even tho it wasn't a dark romance I was in. I am left having very conflicted feelings after having read War Poppy. On the one hand, there are the secondary characters, who in my humble opinion, were the ones who carry the story. On the other, there are the MCs' choices- dear gawd more of them really [...]

    12. ‘It’s as though he wraps himself around my lonely soul and nurses it back to life with the splintered remnants of his own.’If you’re looking for a sweet hearts and flowers romance, War Poppy by Nicole Lynne, is anything but. In fact, it’s a tortured, honest, brutal love story which carried a sense of foreboding throughout. As we read, we had that nervous, gut wrenching feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. It was a feeling that felt inevitable rather than probable. Such was th [...]

    13. What a powerful, raw and gripping read! War Poppy devastated me. It wrecked my soul and I am still overwhelmed from all the emotions it put me through. I feel like my heart was put through the grinder!Excellent writing for a very heavy and sensitive topic. Trauma and PTSD are portrayed honestly and with great care by our two authors. This is not an easy book and the characters' lives are not fairytales. The story is real and it doesn't sugarcoat. It will make you think and it will surely make you [...]

    15. 4.5 stars Facebook: facebook/TheHopelessRBlog: thehopelessromanticsbookblog.bNicole Lynne's "Poppy's War" was a book that had heart ache written all over it. From the synopsis to the prologue to the first chapter and every chapter thereafter, I don't think there was a single moment where I didn't feel pain and sorrow at what unfolded before me. This really was a tragic love story that was car crash reading from the get go, the authors not going easy on their readers one little bit, giving us a r [...]

    16. Brandon O'Keiffe was my first crush, my first kiss and the first boy to break my heart. I cannot tell you how much of a roller-coaster ride of emotions I have been on with War Poppy. I made so many notes of the beautiful and heartwarming words I could make teasers over and over. I felt every emotional push and pull of the characters. A story of love and loss, moving forward and the battles with ptsd. This isn't a true story but I can personally say I know someone dear to me who went through the e [...]

    17. 4 Stars"Two lost souls trying to save each other from unsalvageable events, she may be my hope, but I’m surely her destruction. I just wish she would see it. I wish she would run but she won’t, because she has nothing to run to."I have just finished this book and I’m in shock! Oh My God! Why it finished that way!?! Why!?! I just want to cry! Oh God! My heart hurts when I was reading this book! but I had hoped in the end everything going well. I really liked Poppy and Brandon. This story is [...]

    18. Just what I feared what would happen in the end So not fucking fair. I know Brandon was very intolerable at times, made mistakes and I wasn't his biggest fan but that was fucking brutal. Also the epilogue was way too rushed. It didn't give me enough time to even cope with what the hell happened suddenly and hated the fact that Poppy was "robbed" twice!

    19. There's not a thing that leaves more annoyed and more aware of my cold insensitive bitch soul than (view spoiler)[death of a character (hide spoiler)] Instead of feeling sad I feel extremely disgusted. Sorry but not sorry.

    20. I have no idea how I'm going to write this review.(Update: It was tough and yes, I was crying)I’m not even sure how to explain how much this book wrecked me. I knew from the blurb that it would be emotional but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This book chewed me up and spit me back out. IT COMPLETELY WRECKED ME and we all know that sometimes those are the best kinds of books.Poppy just lost her husband, Connor to the war. On top of that, she’s lost her best friend right along w [...]

    21. When I heard about War Poppy and read the synopsis, I have to say I was intrigued. Stevie J. Cole and L.P. Lovell typically deliver dark, twisty books that you gobble up leaving you with those WTF moments. So when they announced they'd be writing something more emotional, I had to know what they had in store.War Poppy is the story of war. The horrific aftermath that soldiers face when trying to live every day life."War and loss. It will destroy a person from the inside out."Poppy is a widow. Hav [...]

    22. Heck no! What did I just read? What kind of ending was that?So basically, the world is fucked up, everything hurts and there is no hope for the lost and broken. That is some serious black voodoo, my friends. Our protagonist pretty much lost everbody she ever loved.I'm tired of endless drama that exists just to shock readers and provoke pointless emotional wreckage.

    23. 4.75 "The broken taking care of the broken" StarsWhat an emotional, brutal read. Brutal because it was so raw and real. I will have to say that throughout the book there was so much hope flowing through the pages from two people that were destroyed by the after effects of war. And towards the end I felt like I was choking on the desperation that Brandon was feeling. The helplessness he felt, the edginess, the heartbreak, the moment where he finds peace. The unworth feeling of not being able to b [...]

    24. War PoppyNicole Lynne5 starsThis one is heartbreaking --- a causality of war -- yes thats the correct word by the way I love the cover. Poppy has lost her husband Connor -- her heart is broken into shattered pieces never to be whole again. Her life is nothing. She is a shell of a woman. He is gone. The war changes everyone. Poppy knows that Brandon is going to kill himself but just in a different way. He came back when Connor didn't but he didn't come back the same. His heart is not alive and b [...]

    25. When best friends Brandon and Conner go to war together and only one returns home alive what will that do to Poppy? Not only is she Conner's wife, but she has been best friends with both men since they were kids. Can she save herself from breaking while trying to save Brandon from guilt?I would be lying if I said this book didn't completely gut me, I would be lying if I said the ending didn't make me mad and sad. This book dealt with life after war and loss, it dealt with feelings from a long ti [...]

    26. Absolutely HeartbreakingThese girlsey really know how to write together I tell ya! This is the fourth book I've read by the Stevie J. Cole, L.P. Lovell (Nicole Lynne) duo and it's unreal what they make you experience when reading thier words. Heed the warnings, this book isn't light and airy at all. It's real and gritty, with only one way to go and of course hard to review without spoilers."He's gonehe and I both-casualties of war."From the clever title to the complex characters, this book had m [...]

    27. If you read an follow my reviews you will probably see that I can sit and read a book in one sitting. I inhale books. However this book had me stopping a few times so I could breath as these authors pulled my heart apart and I'm still not sure it's put back fully yet.Poppy has been friends with Brandon and Connor since they were kids. They were inseparable. Poppy loses her husband Connor to the war. Brandon is alive but he's struggling. Both of them are struggling. Their story is a raw and emoti [...]

    28. 5 very emotional starsGod I don’t even know where to start with this review, I have literally just finished War Poppy and I’m ruined beyond all belief. This is the first book I have read from LP Lovell and Stevie J Cole so I wasn’t sure what to expect from these two very talented authors, this book was so well written and you could tell that these two authors just bounce off each other when they are writing a book. It captivated me from the outset and kept me in its clutches throughout. The [...]
