    1. I was given a copy of this tom review. This was another good read in this series. I felt bad for the MC. Her childhood and teen years were rough. Which of course played a part in the way she acted as an adult. I was just glad that the right person came along and was able to make her happy again. Too bad they had to get hurt to make it work.

    2. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed delving into another Bistro LaBoheme book. Chloe and Hugo are a renovating force who knew each other growing up and have recently reconnected; she's the architect, he's the handyman everything else. They work well together and, despite Chloe trying to maintain a distance from him like she does with everyone else, he manages to slip under her walls. Their story is too adorable to ru [...]

    3. Chloe is an architect who does not get close to anyone. She feels like she is the devil’s spawn as everyone who loves her or she loves leaves or dies. She has not told anyone this, but keeps it to herself. She hooks up with guys, but if they start to feel something for her she breaks up with them. Hugo came to Paris a year ago and started working with Chloe in her business. Chloe and Hugo went to school together and were friends. He is a big rugged guy who Chloe checks out when she thinks he i [...]

    4. Another great book in the La Bohème series by Alix Nichols. I like this series because the main characters have something to deal with and overcome in order to find fulfilling love and happiness. In this book Chloe keeps everyone at arms length to protect them from her curse. Alix deals well with the issues surrounding adoption and loss combined with a biological need for touch, love and affection. My only issue is that we don't get an epilogue to see how everything works out. Alix herself know [...]

    5. This is a quick visit to Paris and the extended Bistro La Boheme family. Chloe and Hugo are long time friends and co workers who are working to freshen up the Bistro when friendly turns to romance. It's a novella, so the character development isn't as in-depth as I would have liked. I enjoyed Chloe and Hugo, but would have enjoyed spending more time with them and understanding them a little more. It was nice to have a quick check in with previous stars of the La Boheme series.

    6. Chloe is witty and from the start you want her to make that connection she is looking for, she makes you laugh and root for her. From beginning to end I enjoyed her story and laughed and gasped at the end. Hugo is my favorite character and I was team Hugo and knew that he would win in the end. A nice light read to curl up and get lost in, a must read for Alix Nichols readers.

    7. I received an ARC copy for an honest review.Although I enjoyed the story, it left me wanting more of this couple. Chloe thinking she has death curse towards loved ones while Hugo has an easy demeanor. Their chemistry is obvious to everyone but them. A great addition to this series.

    8. And the truth shall set you free. The Devil's Own Clone is a jewel of a romance, so bright and entrancing that I read it in one go. I was given an ARC of this book, but after reading I decided to purchase my own copy. Why? Because I've never seen such alight and upbeat treatment of what could have been a darker, more angsty situation. And because Alix Nichols' writing has a unique Gallic charm that makes you feel the sparkling energy of Paris. And because Chloe is so complex, so artistic, yet so [...]

    9. This is a poignant, at times heartbreaking love story. Chloe has convinced herself that she leaves tragedy in her wake, so she protects herself and those she might care about by refusing to develop any relationship or connection with others. Hugo sees right through her cavalier facade, right through to the pain she tries desperately to ignore. He's gentle and patient with her, but not afraid to call her on her BS when she's ready to face it. Having read the Darcy Brothers books first, I really e [...]

    10. A great romance which I want to be sure I don’t spoil so potentially vague so no spoiler alerts!!Chloe is a great character, she is strong, feminine, motivated and successful however she is also under the impression that she is the Devil’s Own and also that love her are at risk of death!?! So she keeps things casual or so she tries!!This is a fun read, which plenty of interesting twists and turns to keep you hooked. I would definitely recommend it, even if it is just to meet Hugo I wish he w [...]

    11. Chloe has had a lot of tragedy in her young life, and has decided that she has some type of superpower that kills anyone that loves her. So she pushes people away and only has flings. Her friend and business partner, Hugo, want to start something with Chloe, but she knows she can't go there or he'll die. In the meantime, she thinks an ex-lover is stalking her. I can understand where Chloe was coming from, but it was tiring and irritating reading about it. I did like Hugo, though!

    12. I love it!!!I love it!!! Chloe was afraid to get too close to her loved ones. She felt that she was cursed. She believed that if she let herself get too close, that it would put her loved one in danger. There was someone in her life to help her get through that. I really loved this book.

    13. I voluntarily read the arc copy of this book. The story between Hugo and Chloe is really quite the story, she believes that she is cursed and won’t let anyone close enough to love. Can Hugo break through the huge barrier?

    14. A fantastic read. Very entertaining, captivating, and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

    15. this book was really hard to follow and keep my interest. it did it get good towards the end. it was a short story so easy to read fast.

    16. I really enjoyed this short but sweet story. I felt bad for Chloe for having such a rough time. I loved Hugo but Fabien was a bit creepy. Overall, it was a sweet story and I enjoyed it.

    17. This is a fun continuation of Alix Nichol’s La Bohème series loosely based around people connected to a Paris bistro. In this story Chloe Germain is an architect working with Hugo Bonnet, a builder and contractor whom she has known since she was a child. Chloe has a complex that she carries a curse that results in the death of anyone whom she loves and show loves her. Her parents died and her foster parents died as well as her foster brother. She is determined to never fall in love or allow a [...]

    18. This was a fun addition to the La Boheme series. Chloe is an architect that believes she is cursed anyone who loves her and shows love will die. All her family even her foster family died because of this she vows to never fall in love or every allow any man to love her. The attraction between her and Hugo is strong she is determined to fight this. Hugo is a laid back man who is very understanding. The author builds this into a very interesting story which make this a very fast read. You will be [...]

    19. I found this book to be different, quirky, charming and unusual. Part of that quirkiness I think comes from the main character, Chloe. She has some really twisted way of looking at things. That definitely keeps everything interesting. It also helps her go through men like they are water. No strings, no attachments, no real relationships. As I read the story I realized that Hugo was the eternal optimist, and Chloe is the master of doom and Murphy's Law. She's always waiting for the other shoe to [...]

    20. short, a little too shortthe kindle edition ends at 82% (loc 1923 of 2342), which was disappointing, but then it gives you a glimpse of the next book about Dianethis book, which was supposed to be about Chloe and Hugo ended up doing that whole "intro to other characters in the series" thing - those things are, at times, done well; otherwise, they just feel like they stole 20% of the story for themselvesI liked that the normal girl-wrapped-up-in-her-own-drama-and-self-denial didn't go on unnecess [...]

    21. 4.5 STARS!This was a short and sweet read with humor and some suspense. Quite the mixed bag, but it all worked. This is one of those shorter stories that I would have loved to see as a full length book with even more development and slow burn "friends to lovers" romance. I simply loved Hugo and their tentative romantic dance into a relationship. The added psychological and suspense elements, as well as many LOL moments, added oomph to what could have been a sedate story. As I have noticed with A [...]

    22. I wanted to give this one a full five stars but there was just something holding me back. I got laughs, sorrow, passion, confusion, a connection, and a real relationship. What else could I ask for? I do not know. I can say this I will keep reading this series. I have grown very fond of the character and Alix Nichols beautiful writing. The characters are rich and warm. She gives a complete story without cliffhangers. These two were once friends and connecting again can benefit Chloe a great deal. [...]

    23. Cute, fluffy, little story that didn't take much time at all to read. Pretty standard of anything I've read by Alix Nichols. Liked it, but didn't love it. The climax with Fabien seemed to happen out of nowhere, even though we had been given major clues about him stalking Chloe. My favorite part was the sappy, romantic ending where Hugo and Chloe are talking and he's telling her about people in his family who have been married for years and years 30, 50, 60.Hugo says,"If we had only 20 years of h [...]

    24. Well this was certainly a very different story line but most enjoyable even so.This is the latest in the Bistro La Boheme series and my recommendation is that you read it soon. Can you imagine going through life convinced that you are the cause of others' misfortunes and their loss of life and that you were connected to the devil. That must make living extremely difficult. And poor Chloe lived her life that way A very interesting tale which was easy to read.I won't spoil the book for you but I wil [...]

    25. Ms. Nichols has done it one more time. In this La Boheme story we get to visit Hugo( Jeanne Brother) and Chloe. Chloe has had a rough childhood and it colors her view of the world. Hugo is her childhood friend who just happens to be a "Thor" of a man, to quote Chloe. She fights the attraction and he refuses to give up. By the end I was like YES!!!!! and looking for the next one. This is one of my FAVORITE series to date you can not go wrong here.

    26. Excellent contemporary stand-alone romance with a HEA. Chloe feels she has a curse so she won't love and won't let anyone love her. He has been by her side since they were children. This book has highs and lows, twists and turns to keep the readers attention. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading more books in the future by this author.

    27. Another great story in this series. Chloe has lived a hard life. Her parents gave her upr adoption, her adoptive parents died, and her foster brother died of cystic fibrosis. She believes she is cursed to lose every one she loves. Hugo has been a wonderful friend to her for years. He secretly has also be in love with her. Now it's up him to convince her that the curse isn't real.Great story with wonderful characters.I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

    28. Liked it a lot! Light read for a weekend on the couch. Liked the pace and the locations; it's very descriptive, so it's very easy to imagine the different scenes and places in the story. Chloe feels like her bad start in life is influenced by a dark curse, so she pushes away Hugo, the one she can't bear to loose. Thankfully, she realizes that sometimes you just have to take a chance and accept happiness without thinking of it's expiration date.
