    1. I was pretty stoked when I received my copy of The Rack & Cue; over 400 pages of David Owain Hughes’ unique brand of uncensored, in-your-face, no holds barred horror. You see, I like big books, I get to spend more time in the characters’ lives. I have had a great time reading his stories, in addition to being shocked and disgusted (in a good way) by his well-crafted characters. Most of his other books have run in the 200 page range, now I had twice as much to enjoy! The Rack & Cue sta [...]

    2. Being a former budding pool shark myself, I found this book was tons of fun. Many of the characters were dark and seedy yet endearing, a characterization technique David Owain Hughes is well known for. I rooted for many to make it out alive, but that isn't Hughes' normal style and he held nothing back on this one.We start off with a collection of characters: where they are from, where they are going, what makes them tick. We're simultaneously introduced to the owner of a pub: Porky, a man who ha [...]

    3. Pub from Hell!!The Rack & Cue is definitely one pub that I would not want to go to!!If you like a little bit (OK, a lot) of gore, sex, cannibalism, playing pool, bikers and just all around sick mayhem, then this book is just for you!David Owain Hughes never fails to deliver that visceral punch in the gut!

    4. Review: THE RACK & CUE by David Owain HughesWHITE WALLS AND STRAITJACKETS and its sequel ESCAPEES AND FEVERED MINDS served as my introduction to Welsh extreme horror author David Owain Hughes. Delighted by the humour he laced into his horror, I hoped for similar in this tale of a lonely, isolated, definitely "off-the-beaten-track" rural English pub. The setting is gorgeous. The plot premise is intriguing: What are the options for a close-knit family, business-owners, when modernity decides t [...]

    5. I've been picking up pretty much everything David Owain Hughes has released over the last few months and he has now became a go to author. I had this one on my shelf for about a month but as it was so big I kept picking up shorter novellas first. About two weeks ago a few people on decided to get together and group read the book. There will be spoilers:The book is set in an old pub that has fell on hard times and has a pool tournament set up to attract customers. We quickly learn that this is a [...]

    6. Supernatural gore fest from the always impressive David Owain HughesWhether it's erotic depravity or extreme terror, David Owain Hughes, is a masterful author. This is a terrific example of just how brutal a book can be while still retaining a superb story. The characters, of which there are many, are diverse and individual which allows this tale to expand.

    7. This is a 5+ star read for bloody good entertainment David Owain Hughes style. If you've read anything else from this author or know anything about him, this book will likely make you smile that much more. A great read all 'round. Grab your copy!

    8. First book I’ve read by Hughes and he did not disappoint. First off, this is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Writing is solid and I really loved the character build up. I really enjoyed the pool tournament and felt like I was there. Just know, I’d be chopped liver in that game literally!!!! There’s a twist you come up to towards the end of the book that just punches you in the stomach. I was not expecting that at all!!! Holy shit was I was taken by surprised. Let’s just say, if you [...]

    9. AwesomeI'm not very good at writing reviews, so here goes. I loved this book, how it mingled 2 stories into 1. I hope there will be a sequel.

    10. I'm such a HUGE fan of David Owain Hughes, and have been since I first came across him last February. His writing skills are intense, his imagination and intelligence are off the charts impressive, and his attention to detail is spot on savvy. He knows how to craft an exciting, pulse pounding tale with well written, fun and.ly characters. His books often do have numerous characters but never get confusing of feel bogged down and that's why I refer to him as that Welshian Writer Savant, he's a fan [...]
