    1. "Young Abe Lincoln" by Cheryl Harness is a wonderful biography of the years in the life of Abraham Lincoln as he was growing up. It includes his birth on February 12, 1809 in a cabin in the woods of Kentucky on a cold winter night until April 15 1837, after finishing law school Abe made his new home in Springfield, Illinois. This will be a great book to read aloud in class when doing a lesson on Abraham Lincoln because the students will be able to relate to him as a real person and not just a fig [...]

    2. I think that the book "Young Abe Lincoln" is a good book for children to read. It would be more appropriate for children in the grades 3-5 to read on their own but k-3 could most likely enjoy to have this book read to them. This would be a good tool while teaching about President Lincoln because children can better relate to him when he was young. Sometimes presidents may seem like far off people with a lot of power, but when they read "Young Abe Lincoln" they realize that even presidents grow u [...]

    3. Genre: Historical fictionAwards: NoneGrade level: 3-4I would read this book aloud before celebrating Presidents Day. After reading this I would have the students construct top hats out of black paper and on the back write how they are honest like Abe. This book is important because it teaches them that they can do anything they want to if they put their minds to it. Abe Lincoln was just a child like they ar [...]

    4. The theme of this picture book is about a biography. This picture book did a nice job telling about Abe Lincoln’s life from birth to age 28. I really liked the details of the pictures that were in this picture book, and I really liked how this picture book even incorporated maps of where things were happening during this story.
