    1. i can't believe all the 5 star ratings. this book was horribly written---supposed to be funny---not! on EVERY page, sometimes several times on the same page, somebody's eyes "widened" or grew wide. is there no other way to describe surprise??? The constant focus on Agnes and her fondness for food and the cruel remarks from Flo about her weight were just too much for me. not entertaining in the least. i have no desire to read anything by this author ever again. horrible.

    2. I was a bit disappointed in this book. I was looking for a light cozy mystery which this certainly is but it just didn't capture my imagination. I was particularly put off by the way Flo badgered Agnes on her eating habits. Agnes was fixated on food but I thought Flo badgered her way too much. I even felt bad for Agnes on more than one occasion. There were several interesting supporting characters but one of them was not the detective. I had a hard time seeing a real detective sharing evidence s [...]

    3. Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books1 star This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars I really [...]

    4. In this first book, dynamic duo Agnes and Flo investigate suspicious death of busboy named Yegor in their senior and singles residence Silver Hills. During the investigation they get in trouble with the police, have encounters with suspiciously vampire look alike night-time managers, manage to convince some of the residents and management to help them along and encounter some not so nice things from the other residenents. I especially liked the humor and easy banter between main characters and t [...]

    5. I found Dose Vidanya, book 1 of 4 in Sam Cheever's Silver Hills Cozy Mysteries series, quite entertaining. The characters - senior residents Florence "Flo" Bee and Agnes Willard - were presented in a believeable fashion and their interactions were easy to imagine in a real life setting. Loved the moments of bantering back and forth between Flo and Agnes as much as their sleuthing adventures! The book probably could have used a little more editting to deliver a more polished story which is the rea [...]

    6. I didn't find this book entertaining. The characters are one dimensional and stereotypical. The humour is poorly executed slap-stick with the same joke over and over again. If any of us fell that dramatically and that often we wouldn't be getting up again. I would describe the all the humour to be the kind best enjoyed by 14 year old boys. Farts, poop, food and embarrassing situations. Best friends Flo and Agnes treat each other meanly and with none of the affection that goes with friendly teasi [...]

    7. Being nosey can get you killed!Flo and Agnes are into everything. Especially when a murder takes place in the Silver Hill retirement home. Flo watches all the murder and cop shows and designates herself a detective. Tolstoy the cat and Rodney the dog are her helpers. Lol Will Flo and Agnes find out who the murderer is or be murdered? This book had twist, turns and most of all lots of laughs. Nothing is ever dull at Silver Hills.

    8. The main reason why this book was so un-enjoyable for me was that there was never much explanation of who the dead body was, beyond his name. By the end of the book, I'm not sure if anyone even cared about him. The good news was that at least there wasn't the usual great revelation right near the end, the one that clarifies who the murderer was and what their motivation was.

    9. A good light cozy mystery.Maybe I read too many mysteries, but I knew who the killer was at the first appearance of the character. The slapstick comedy was a bit much for my taste, and there are a few editing errors. Overall it's a decent book, I finished it and liked the characters. I will check out the next in the series.

    10. AwfulThis book was so bad I could not get past the second chapter. Her use of dialogue was insulting, the language was revolting and I am sure if I had gotten that far that the plot would have been worse. I would have found this book to be intellectually insulting any time past age 8.

    11. 3.5 StarsWhen the new employee from the kitchen ends up stiff as a board in the library, the death is deemed to be from natural causes. The two women that find him, Flo and Agnes, aren't quite sure natural causes would be correct. As they, along with TC, begin their own amateur sleuthing into the case, it becomes more evident that foul play is involved. More things happen that can only be tied to the death in the library. Now Flo, Agnes, and TC just have to figure out who in their small senior a [...]

    12. I received Dose Vidanya as a birthday present a few weeks back and am I ever glad I did. This was my first Sam Cheever book but it certainly won't be my last. The story is set at Silver Hills, a Seniors and Singles apartment complex with an interesting and eclectic set of residents and staff whose quiet routine is disturbed when the new busboy turns up dead in the upstairs lounge. The police say it was natural causes but two of the residents are convinced otherwise and set out to find the murdere [...]

    13. Dose Vidanya is a hilarious tickle the ole funny bone murder mystery! The ladies of the Silver Hills Senior and Singles Residence try to solve the reason Yegor, an employee from the kitchen, was found dead in the Library. The seniors are a hoot as they gather and piece together the clues. But what happens when they start getting too close to the truth? I don’t do spoilers so at this point I will simply say this book is a must. It has a great storyline that will having you laughing while trying [...]

    14. This laugh out loud funny first in a new series is a complete winner in grabbing your attention from the beginning and keeping ahold of you to the very end. You'll never think of retirement communities in the same way againwho knew elderly ladies could make for such an entertaining read! Not only will you find humor within the pages of this book, but also some mystery and even a small bit of romanceyou can't go wrong by getting lost in this capturing story. I definitely look forward to reading mo [...]

    15. The quirky characters in this story made me laugh out loud more than once - some things are outrageously unbelievable but I don't mind at all because the flair of the story is so light and funny that everything just fits right in. Especially the flickering of the lights. There are some clues to find and I really liked guessing along, trying to find the culprit along with the cute amateur sleuths (especially TC is so adorable! But Flo and Agatha are too, each in their own special way). Really coo [...]

    16. This is my first time reading this author, and I was definitely giggling throughout the book. I haven't read a fun mystery read in a long time and this thoroughly sated me. It primarily takes place in a senior and singles residence with the two main characters, Flo & Agnes keeping you laughing with their wit and silly humor. It really is just a fun who done it murder mystery and I would definitely read more about the crazy mystery solving old biddies. I was gifted a copy by the author.B2BKri [...]
