    1. RyAnne knows her father has health issues and will likely not make it back from the adventure he is about to embark on with Captain Trent Dawson. Though she tries to convince him not to go, the trip is to go on as planned. The night before the journey is to begin, the family attends a ball. It is an action filled evening. But in the end, RyAnne is not able to change her fathers mind.Trent likes to rile RyAnne. They clash often, but there is also quite a spark of chemistry between them. They make [...]

    2. Exotic Adventure! From the beautiful white-sanded beaches of the island of Zanzibar, the gentle sound of aquamarine ocean waves lapping outside of plantation walls, and the fragrant scent of indigo and gardenias—to the darkness of the malodorous, sewer-thickened stench of the docks and surrounding sea—comes an exhilarating tale from the pen of author Lynnette Bonner, set in exotic Africa in the 1800s.RyAnne Hunter lives with her parents and two siblings on a beautiful indigo plantation on the [...]

    3. My thoughts:This was such a great start to a serialized series!! Lynnette Bonner has crafted characters that grab you immediately. RyAnne is a determined firecracker of a character, and Trent is the perfect balance for her. Both are lovable. They’ll bring you back again and again for the following installments in this series.Lynnette has also done a masterful job of description in this story! It truly felt like I was there, and is obvious she has a love for Africa that will be hard for any oth [...]

    4. This is a historical romance set in Zanzibar in 1866. This is also a serialized novella so it will be continuing. Which I for one am excited about. Lynnette Bonner did a great job at grabbing my attention from the beginning. I loved all of her details about Zanzibar and the historical period at that time. Her heroine, RyAnne is a very spirited young lady who absolutely adores her father and is trying to keep him from a grueling trip to Africa. She is determined to keep him at home. The hero, Cap [...]

    5. Get ready to fall in love! Captain Trent Dawson is one of the finest heroes I have ever met in the pages of a book. Tall and handsome, strong and clever, with a good heart and a strong moral purpose. Again and again, he is called to look out for Ryanne Hunter , the beautiful daughter of Dr. Ryan Hunter. Ryanne isn’t the usual damsel in distress. Along with natural beauty, she has wealthy parents and has enjoyed what would appear to be an ideal childhood except for the strained relationship wi [...]

    6. A swashbuckling Rogue for a Hero, a rebellious Heroine and a riveting plot make for a wonderful read. There is a dashing hero, romance and intrigue in this first part of a serialized book by Lynette Bonner. You will love Trent and RyAnne as they clash on whether RyAnnes's father will go to Africa. I loved this first part and can't wait for the second part of the book. This book was given to me by the Author for my honest review. All views expressed are my own.

    7. I spent about 55 years of my life in Africa. On the Wings of a Whisper is a fascinating novella. I learned things about the slave trade that I never knew. The romance has great conflict, which makes it all the better. The descriptions are so vivid that it took me 'home' again to the Africa I love. I highly recommend it.

    8. I see this book more as "a teaser" than a story. The author, Lynnette Bonner, has set the stage for what seems will be an interesting and intriguing story involving some good men, some evil men and some family secrets that will be exposed throughout the story. RyAnne is certainly an interesting character who is bound to get herself into a few sticky situations as her story is told. Captain Dawson seems like a man who will 'stand out' as the story develops. I suspect once I have read more in the [...]

    9. Very intriguing! This story was very intriguing! It went too quickly!! RyAnne is a feisty young woman (hmm just like me), she has a mind of her own. She's determined to keep her father from making a mistake. So she does something that may endanger herself.I'll not know until I read the rest of the books. But I can imagine the problems she will get into. The Captain is a serious man that doesn't like to break the rules. These two clash but I see a romance between them.

    10. Just a start of s book!!!Very good story ,written well but just the beginning of a book . Would like to know the ending but will not buy any more for that would lead to another buy, then another, where would it end??Too many good books out there that don't whole you hostage!!!!

    11. A good Christian novel on early missions and slavery.Moved slower than I expected, leaving the sequels room for further action. I dislike some sequels because of this, preferring action page turners right from the start.

    12. Love it so far!Ienjoy this sort of book. I love the time it takes place. I don't like the way the character is treated by her mother. Karen vitrano

    13. Intrigue & romance in exotic ZanzibarWhat a great start to what I know will prove to be a great story! I've enjoyed Lynnette Bonner's books since first reading Rocky Mountain Oasis a couple of years or so ago, and, as you can imagine, when I heard about this new serial I was intrigued. On The Wings Of A Whisper was such an enjoyable read. I think it only took me a couple of hours or so because I just couldn't seem to be able to put it down. *Sigh* Much like a long chapter, On The Wings Of A [...]

    14. RyAnne Hunter is the youngest, green-eyed, feisty daughter of of a doctor in Zanzibar, Africa. Dr. Hunter is leaving on a long trek inland into the continent. RyAnne is single minded in her quest to stop him from leaving her.Captain Trent Dawson is guiding the trip. A service he is happy to provide since Captain Dawson is secretly under contract with Her Majesty to end the illegal smuggling of slaves. Although Captain Dawson would like nothing better than to keep things simple, that is clearly i [...]

    15. In this first episode of the Sonnets of the Spice Isle, Lynnette Bonner sets the stage for a tale of intrigue, romance, and adventure.Captain Trent Dawson has his reasons for traveling into the interior of Africa. RyAnne Hunter also has deep-seated motives for trying to keep her father from going with him. With time running out and a fever trying to thwart her, can RyAnne convince her father to stay with his family? Can Trent keep her out of trouble with her reputation intact?Masterfully written, [...]

    16. Lynnette Bonner has done it again! This is a great story. The characters are well-developed, the history is well-researched, the story flows well and is engaging from the start. The main characters are likable, but there are some very unsavory, unlikeable characters also. There is mystery and intrigue, and of course, romance. What more can you ask for? This is part one of a serialized novella.I was given a copy of the novella in exchange for my honest review.

    17. Lynnette Bonner’s historical romance "On the Wings of a Whisper" portrays a young girl coming of age and embarking on a first love, while her unparalleled love and devotion for her father leads her on a daring escapade. An excellent portrayal of love, hope and faith. An excellent story, in an interesting historical time.

    18. RyAnne is a amazing person. Captain Dawson's job to watch over her is a real challenge. The way he protected her is wonderful. RyAnne is fighting to keep her father home. The things she does will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You can feel God working throughout this whole book.

    19. Lynette Bonner is particularly good at description. Her word photos of people, their dress and their demeanor were very explicit. The description of the harbor made me see the sights and smell the odors. I was unhappy when the episode was over. I wanted to see what happened right away.

    20. I love this story. I am not crazy about the format. This is just the first part of six. It's hard to wait for the next part when you finish one. I have now read three of the six parts and I really just want to know what happens to Ryanne and Trent.

    21. On the Wings of a WhisperI loved this story. The details, the research, the love of a daughter for her father, he was sick and he was going to die alone going on a mission, she could not let that happen to him without her. I recommend everyone to read this book. Kattie 9/1/2016.
