  2. Well. I was really surprised by how much I liked it. I guess I assumed that Cookson's pseudonym was an exercise for her to get away with writing bad romances, but this followed much of the same 'Cookson' formula as all her others. Reminded me a bit of The Moth. Young woman crushed by family responsibilities and obligations, debt, familial betrayal, realization of her naivety, burdened by her ungrateful siblings and working (and seen) as an unpaid lackey.
