    1. What Happens at Christmas is a wonderful festive read for the winter months.Although there are sad undertones, this book has an overall positive and uplifting feel to it.I’m such a softie when it comes to dogs, and I have to say, my heart melted when I read the following:“He had somehow found an old jumper belonging to her dad and had rolled himself into it. He was lying on it, his head on his paws, a woollen sleeve across his front legs, his eyes staring mournfully up at her.”This is full [...]

    2. What Happens at Christmas, as the name suggests, is set during the lead up to Christmas. I loved Holly, and enjoyed going with her on her journey of discovery about her father, who abandoned her when she was young. The characters she met on the way ranged from gorgeous to quirky and I especially loved the dog. A couple of the dog scenes left me with tears in my eyes. I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the first of Trevor's books I've read and I'm l [...]

    3. What Happens at Christmas is a gorgeous, feel-good novel that has some real depth to it. Holly Brice has recently found out that her estranged father has died and that she has inherited his cottage in a quaint little village in Dartmoor. Holly makes a trip to the remote village to clear the cottage out to get it ready for selling and it ends up being a real trip down memory lane for her. Holly also discovers that not only has she inherited her father’s home but also his lovely one-year-old lab [...]

    4. 4.5 StarsI loved What Happens at Christmas based on the cover, you may think its just going to be a shallow Christmas story, but I can assure you, it has a good amount of depth, and a fabulous story. Holly Brice has been estranged from her father for over 20 years, so is shocked to hear she has inherited a little cottage in a Dartmoor village, that she only vaguely remembers from childhood. When she gets to Dartmoor she discovers its not just a cottage, but also a very healthy trust fund, and St [...]

    5. A village full of lovely people, a wonderful dog, an open minded heroine and 2 hunky men - the book is a complete Christmas gift! I loved Holly and her 3 date limit and I particularly enjoyed the way she learned about her late father. How all the pieces came together gradually. I admired her for not being judgemental, which would have been the obvious result. I also enjoyed the way the similarities between Holly and George kept appearing throughout the book.Julia was a real character with a bril [...]

    6. What Happens At Christmas is the first novel by T.A. Williams that I have read, and what a lovely, heart warming story it told. The book starts off with a prologue setting the story up, explaining that holly Brice had been summoned to a solicitors in order for a reading of her fathers will, a father that she hadn't seen or heard from in nearly 20 years. The first shock for Holly is that he has left her his quaint cottage in a small Devon village, and the second was the rather large sum of money sh [...]

    7. I received a copy of this via NetGalley and Carina UK in return for a fair and honest review. What a wonderful feelgood Christmas book! Read this in one sitting while feeling a little under the weather but the story soon had me smiling and feeling warm and fuzzy inside and soon had me transported to the snowy Dartmoor countryside!Holly has a very successful but busy life in London, but that soon gets put on hold when she has to travel to Dartmoor to see a solicitor once she finds out that the fat [...]

    8. First and foremost: T.A. Williams is a guy. Yeah, I was surprised too. Shocked, more like. But pleasantly. If that makes sense. What Happens at Christmas is yet another average Christmas story. One that you can leisurely curl up with over a cup of coffee and then put aside until your next cup. Obviously, that's perfectly fine, if that's what you're looking for. But fantasy has spoiled me. I can't seem to read slow easy novels now without craving the excitement and gripping suspense that comes wi [...]

    9. A warm tale of Holly (inwards groan) and unpeeling the layers of her life. Much deeper than I had anticipated. Provides insights into her father's story and his love for her, despite leaving her at the age of 7. He leaves her his cottage in Dartmoor, a healthy trust fund and a wonderful companion by the name of Stirling. Initially a London-based career woman, who loves her designer labels (with a healthy dose of product placement at the start), Holly decides to spend two weeks at her father's co [...]

    10. A lovely, romantic festive read. I enjoyed the way that Holly was able to get to know her dad after his death through the letters he left her and I liked reading about how she was integrated into her new community. Lovely that she took on her late dad's dog - wonderful canine character! Happy ending left me with a warm glow, bring on the mulled wine and carols!

    11. A beautiful Christmas romance set in England. Holly goes to get her father's house ready for sale and meets the neighbor Jack. With Sterling her new dog they decide that village life is for them. Enjoyable and wholesome, this is a holiday romance to savor.

    12. Posted in full reviewedthebook/2015 What Happens at Christmas is a beautiful festive story that packed a real punch, with a surprisingly full of depth story evolving throughout the pages. I can always rely on Trevor’s books to put a smile on my face but this one, though it took me a little bit of time to really connect with it, felt more intriguing and thought-provoking than the rest with a more emotive story. Holly Brice has discovered her dad has died and she heads off to the cosy village of [...]

    13. T.A Williams is an author I have only recently discovered( thanks to the power of the social media ) and I must say I am very pleased that I was accepted to review his latest addition to the book world because I immediately fall under the spell of his magical storytelling abilities.Let me tell you why I love What Happens at ChristmasWhen high-lying Holly learns about the death of her estranged father, she decides to take a trip down memory lane and finds out more about the father who disappeared [...]

    14. Review originally posted on my blog livinglifewithjoy Check out my blog for more reviews, interviews, excerpts and giveaways! This was a lovely Christmas themed novel about a young woman learning about the father she grew up without. Holly was single-handedly raised by her mother from the time she was 7 because her father left them. Holly grew up believing that her father was a terrible man that basically disappeared on them and never looked back, but when she learns that he recently passed, she [...]

    15. I am so happy that I got to read this book. It was so heart warming and really got me into the Christmas spirit. It was full of drama, friendship, love, loyalty, heartbreak in some cases and just really warms your heart. It also had some heart stopping moments where you would find yourself holding your breath anticipating what is going to happen next and these cases I really couldn’t put it down. This in my eyes makes a really good romance book. The storyline was not to far fetched and kept a go [...]

    16. 3.5 starsIt may not be Christmas any longer, but is there ever a bad time of year to enjoy a sweet Christmas romance story?Holly is summoned to the quaint village of Dartmoor to claim her inheritance from her estranged and dead father: the cottage he owned. She has distant, dim memories of happy years with her father, but his marriage to her mother ended badly, her mother left emotionally scarred and bitter. Holly never saw her father again, and now, as she stays in his Dartmoor home, she feels [...]

    17. I loved this superb story from the very first page to the very end. It is an enthralling read about the revelations made by a young lady discovering why her father disappeared from her life when she was only seven years old. Tragically this is brought about because he has died without ever seeing her, but he's made her the main beneficiary. She's been bitter about him vanishing from her life all those years ago but was unaware of why it happened and has had no contact with him since. As she expl [...]

    18. What Happens at Christmas is set in a cosy village in Dartmoor, Devon. As a reader, I could just imagine a picturesque village in the middle of the wild expanses of moorland, full of warm and welcoming villagers – the perfect location for a festive novel. The author brings the setting to life and creates a magical setting for the story. The main protagonist, Holly Brice, has just discovered that her long-estranged father has died and she heads off to Devon to sort out his belongings. She soon f [...]

    19. Holly never knew her father, and her mother never had anything good to say about him. When he dies, she decides to visit the Dartmoor village where he lived. Once there, she discovers a father she never imagined. Besides leaving her his cozy cottage and a sizable financial inheritance, Holly finds, as she stays in Dartmoor to clean up the house and prepare it to be sold, her father was a man she could have ever imagined, a man beloved by most people he encountered who went after a quest that sat [...]

    20. I am a fan of this author, and his constant ability to have one of the main characters as a Labrador! The lab in question, Stirling, is most definitely one of my favourite characters in this story, if not all of the authors books thus far. Having a golden lab myself, strangely enough with the same name as the main character in this book, I totally saw Stirling in my mind doing exactly what my own dog does. She has the same sad eye look that Stirling has, and also has the ability to know when a c [...]

    21. Originally reviewed for Chick Lit Central (chicklitcentral)The holidays are usually a time for reflection. We often think of our loved ones, family. The people who are still with us, and the ones we’ve lost along the way. What Happens at Christmas is the perfect book to engage in this time of year. Holly has a long journey ahead of her. She knows absolutely nothing about her father. All she’s been told is that he abandoned her, and her mother, many years ago. That is the impression she’s h [...]

    22. When Holly’s estranged father dies, she goes to stay in the cottage she has inherited to clear it out ready for selling. It is situated in a delightful village in Dartmoor and comes complete with a lovely black labrador.Holly soon comes to realise that there was more to her father than she had been led to believe. It is Holly’s journey to discovering her father and also discovering herself that is at the heart of this story. The hurt she has carried with her throughout her childhood to the pr [...]

    23. My first holiday read of the season, and it did not disappoint!I fell in love with the characters in this book one by one. They are all so well written and you get a real sense of connection to each one no matter if their story line is big or small.Holly Brice had been prepared to dislike her father her whole life, after all he abandoned her and her mother for basically her whole, without even a birthday card each yearor so she thoughtShe arrived in the picturesque small town of Devon, what was [...]

    24. What Happens at Christmas by T.A. Williams is the first book by the author that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a through and through festive romance with its cheer and christmas happiness feeling. Although it also has sad overtones at places, it is light and a very enjoyable read. I loved Holly and Jack and enjoyed the development of romance between them.Being a dog lover, I loved and adored Holly's dog and could visualize him. Wanting to pet him and keep him for myself, I laughe [...]

    25. Holly Brice finds herself in a small Dartmoor village after her estranged father dies. Hoping to find out more about him, she befriends some of the villagers who knew her Dad well. Realising that he has left her a substantial legacy, Holly has decisions to make - but first, she needs to get to know her Dad. Right, out of the way - this isn't overly festive. It's set in December, but it's not centred around Christmas. It's more of a journey of discovery for Holly. It was pleasant, it was well wri [...]

    26. What happens at Christmas by T.A. Williams (not to be confused by others of the same title), is just a good read. It's the story of Holly, who's father recently died and left her a small fortune and a quaint cottage in Cornwall. All that Holly has ever known of him is that when she was young, he abandoned her and her mother for another woman. Once she gets to the cottage, the memories come flooding back and she gets to know the man who was loved so much by so many and to understand his reasons f [...]

    27. When Holly inherits a cottage in the Dartmoor village of Brookford and a load of money from the father that she has not seen or heard from since he walked out on her and her mother when she was 7 she goes down there to clear it out and sell it. Once down there though she finds she has also inherited a lovely black lab called Stirling, what on earth is she going to do with him in a London flat, and a lot of childhood memories that had not surfaced in years.Everyone she meets has nothing but prais [...]

    28. I simply loved this heart warming tale by T A Williams - an author I'm now fortunate I've come across. An easy reading tale with characters I simply fell in love with. Can't wait to read more by this author.Career girl Holly finds out her estranged father has died and left her his cottage in Devon. She also discovers that she has been left a dog, Stirling as well as a pot of money. She learns about her dad from her new neighbours as well as Justin, the posh bloke, Howard a really lovely older man [...]

    29. I was totally expecting a fluffy predictable read with this one, but I was wrong. It was mostly funny, but so sad in other spots.I loved the way the 'other man' was dealt with. In lots of books the heroine is with the wrong man before she realizes her mistake. In this book it was done in a different way which I loved.Sometimes I read a book which I love, but have trouble believing could happen in real life, this is not one of those books. This could totally happen. And I want a Sterling all for m [...]
