  1. Author Lisa Safran, uses such an imaginative approach to dealing with some hefty teen issues. The main character Mona is trying to handle her first crush, her first loss, and a sister with anxiety, yet this book never gets heavy or depressing. In fact, the creative descriptive characters often make you laugh out loud! (I would love to meet Gram in her track suits!)
