    1. Sweet, hot n loving MMF menage romance novella. The third person-present tense POV(all 3 of them)were a bit hard for me to get into but I managed.

    2. In a word, disappointing. When I read menage, I want three characters who are actually, ya know, all really into each other. Not two men held together by their love for a woman. Here, honestly, I didn't feel the chemistry. And that may be due to the fact that the ONLY way this menage works is via a magic sex candle. Now, I've said recently that I'd like to read a straight-for-you romance, and this comes close. But who wants to read about sex that can only happen when magic is involved? Haven't we [...]

    3. 3.5 Stars This is the first book that I've ever read by Christopher Rice. I'm not sure if it was the best pick for an introduction to this author, but it was good enough to make me want to read more by him. Since I don't have any more background on his writing, all what I'm gonna say here is going to be based in this book experience. This novella is an erotic romance that revolves around the life of Cassidy, her husband Andrew, and her best friend Shane, who happens to be gay. The story starts wi [...]

    4. I had the pleasure of reading The Flame as my first foray into the writing of Christopher Rice.  I’m always fascinated when an author jumps genres.  It’s a risk on one hand, but holds the possibility of capturing a whole new audience.  I’m equally fascinated by erotica or erotic romance written by men, regardless of the author’s sexual orientation.  As men tend to be the less expressive of the sexes (glaring stereotype, I know), there’s something incredibly sexy about getting into [...]

    5. Dark Nights: The FlameDark Nights: Dance of DesireBy Christopher RiceEvil Eye ConceptsBought these by mistake, obviously. Rice was blogging about how he’d embraced the romance genre and that he was writing romance novellas…and I (not illogically) assumed they would be, you know, gay romance novels. Because he's a gay man. Well, no. “The Flame” is an m/f/m novel about a gay man who is startled to discover that he wants to sleep with a woman. So it’s a kind of straight for you book, whic [...]

    6. The FlameRice is a new to me author but I enjoyed the story quite a bit. It was both sweet and sexy and included a fantastical element that I liked.

    7. First of all, I want to say that Christopher Rice is one of the coolest authors ever!He sent me his book because I was one of the many who answered his famous facebook photo question (thank you google) Say whaaat?!So, thank you SO MUCH C.Rice! You are the best!I read this book so fastI have to admit, though, that erotic themed stories are not my thing It feltweird read and visualise the scenesBUT I enjoyed it! I super rarely read a book, even this size, in a day! I liked the paranormal aspect!!! [...]

    8. Short, sweet, seductive and sexually provocative, The Flame will warm your heart and other private parts of your anatomy. It is no playground for the jaded heart, however. Like the protagonists in this story, the reader must let down some defenses to take this little journey. This is a sexually charged romance about three people in love who yearn to become not just friends, not merely lovers, but an intimately bonded triad. Because they are already extremely emotionally attached to one another, [...]

    9. I honestely don't know what I was expecting from this one, but it wasn't what I got. I was kinda hooked in the beginning and ok the whole magic candle thing was a little too much to me but I guess the supernatural is a current theme on Christopher's books so I decided to "let it go'and enjoy the story. And I was truly enjoying it till the moment it became clear that the show belonged to Cassidy. (view spoiler)[ I admit I didn't like the fact that it seemed like Andrew and Shane only had sex beca [...]

    10. THIS is how you write a book that is MMF! Just going to put that out there. It made the sex scenes sexy and HOT. The book was well written and it made me super excited to start into this series!I received this book for free from Christopher RIce at the RT Book Lovers Convention when my mother and I were having a lunch break. Mr. Rice happened to be having a lunch break in the same little cafe and my mom asked across the little diner style eatery and asked if he was a writer or reader. He stated [...]

    11. In almost every review I’ve written of a Christopher Rice novel, I’ve always sung his praises for being able to take , usually a genre that is often very hot-or-cold for me, and turning it into something compelling and engaging. And as with his horror and thriller offerings, it appears all erotica really needed for me to enjoy it was some beautiful, lyrical prose.Erotica, then, is not a genre I read often. But from page one, I was pulled into this novella with rich descriptions and Rice’s [...]

    12. From beginning to end, this sexy fast-paced novella captivates readers with its succulent prose. I couldn't put the book down: the MMF romance is certainly titillating but what truly makes it special are the fleshed out characters at the center of the story. The reader is drawn into their interior lives, and the dilemma of their situation — which I'm happy to report is explored with genuine care — in a very tender and intriguing way. It's romantic and explicit without becoming vulgar. I'd lo [...]

    13. This book was okay. I guess I was expecting a bit more of a story and there just wasn't much there. This is an erotic novella so I should not have been surprised.

    14. The Flame is the first installment in a new series from author Christopher Rice as well as novella number 11 in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series. I am a new fan to Mr. Rice’s work and was so excited to read his first dip into the erotic pond and I can tell you, this story was beyond spectacular. Sexy, emotional, intriguing, and magical. was all of that and more.Cassidy Burke still can’t wrap her mind around the unexpected and erotic experience she shared with her husband and her best friend the [...]

    15. Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews5 STARSReview copy provided for an honest reviewI really didn’t know what to expect when I received The Flame for review; it was by an author I hadn’t read before and one that is not known for writing romance and I knew from the blurb it had a black magic/paranormal type element to it which is not normally something I read, but I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read in the 1001 Dark Nights series so I persevered and discovered that somet [...]

    16. This book was provided by Christopher Rice and read on behalf of Thorns & Ink.What is my heart’s desire? That was answered quickly and cleanly within this book. I have danced around this flame once and it was amazing. Why are we so quick to want to label every little thing in our lives? That is the question that kept circling in my mind as I listened to this book. It is remaining with me now. I want to get philosophical, but this isn’t the place. This was is a wonderful audio. The voicing [...]

    17. As a fan of the 1001 Dark Nights series, I have enjoyed every one of the offerings I've been fortunate enough to pick up, but THE FLAME takes the prize so farI absolutely LOVED it. Cassidy Burke and her husband Andrew shared a steamy night with her impulsive gay BFF Shane Cortland during Mardi Gras, leaving Cassidy confused and full of longing. She happens upon a mystical little candle shop with an intriguing proprietor in the French Quarter, soon finding herself given a candle which seems to co [...]

    19. Wow! Where do i begin???. I am a firm believer Christopher Rice can do no wrong. Just follow him on Facebook or listen to his internet radio show The Dinner Party show with his bestie Eric Quinn Shaw. When i heard his first foray into erotic romance i was like what? huh? whoa! I would have to definitely add this to my list of CR's must reads. When i sat down and read the novella a short 110 pages it felt like i just took a ride in a crazy romantic porno ride and I loved it. The Flame: A Desire E [...]

    20. For a New York Times Best Selling Author who has worked in a multitude of genres, I should not be amazed that Christopher Rice’s first adventure into Erotic Romance is as phenomenal as it happens to be. Cassidy Burke finds herself under the spell of a mysterious candle that affects not only her, but also the two men she loves most. She faces her fears and her passions to discover a new world of scintillating, intrinsic devotion. Is it kismet or the candle that create the tantalizing desires? M [...]

    21. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked this book up. I knew I was going to enjoy it based on the author. Then starting with the introduction that gave me the premise behind the 1001 Dark Nights, I was intrigued how it gave a modern day twist to the Arabian Nights. From there I was put right into the middle of a New Orleans downpour with the lead character, Cassidy and her rambling thoughts. A thought pattern that I could relate to much more than I care to admit. From her self-doubts regardin [...]

    22. Review will be posted atbooks-n-kisses MBER OF HEARTS: 3 1/2REVIEW: This was a good 1001 Dark Night’s story. And was my first Christopher Rice read. And boy howdy did I ever jump off the deep end with this book. As with any good novella I can’t give you too much. But lets just say that a night of impulsive decisions will forever change the way that three people look at each other. In the short term it has through all of them for a loop. But with a little other worldly help they may have a bri [...]

    23. Whoa! This man can write AND bring the heat with the words he pens. To call it anything other than erotic (smut, naughty fiction, etc.) would be a disservice to the elegant prose contained in "The Flame". "But to have a kettle of new feelings and desires set to boil by such a sudden, ferocious explosion of lust"That is some kind of visual imagery. Not only does "The Flame" heat up the pages but also tugs at your emotional strings as you journey with Andrew, Cassidy and Shane as they try to recon [...]

    24. I read a couple Christopher Rice titles in the early 2000s. One of the things I really liked about his work was his voice. The way words were strung together to create an image. Mr. Rice's voice certainly shines in this novella of the 1001 Dark Nights project. I read this novella in one sitting, and even if I had been required to accomplish something, I probably would've growled and snapped at anyone daring to break my thrall with the title. The description hooked me from page one. I was able to [...]

    25. 4.5 StarsTantalizing, tempting, and erotic. Christopher Rice nails erotic romance. The 11th installment of the 1001 Dark Nights series, The Flame by Christopher Rice is like an erotic assault on your senses. Mr. Rice’s talent for descriptive writing not only leaves your visual pallet stimulated, the aromatic descriptions make you want to close your eyes and let your sense of smell take you away. It’s hard to believe this is Mr. Rice’s first attempt at an erotic romance. He writes it like a [...]

    26. This was the first book I have read by Christopher Rice. I understand that this is his first attempt at writing erotic romance. I really enjoyed this book. If he sticks with this genre I will definitely read more books by him. The characters were very well developed. I loved the connection between them. Mr. Rice made me feel as if I was experiencing every emotion that his characters were feeling. I love reading a book and feeling like I have been sucked into the story. A major pet peeve of mine [...]

    27. Loved it. It was sensual, sexy and full of love. A married couple and their best friend use a magical candle to explore their deepest desires. Cassidy and Andrew are married and Shane is their best friend. Cassidy is drawn into a store in the French Quarter where she meets the mysterious Bastian Drake. He offers her a candle and tells her that if she lights it, her deepest desires will be realized. Cassidy lights the candle and a supernatural being appears which causes Cassidy, Andrew and Shane [...]

    28. wow! i need a drink, a fan and a new pair of panties to put on!!! the flame was one of the hottest, and down right awesome books ive read in a long time. i usally only read female writers when it comes to romance and erotica but, christopher rice is the exception to this rule. his characters are sexy and whether you are into men, women or both this book will knock your socks off. if you loved complex characters and believe that love doesnt care if your a man or a women and you like erotica done [...]
