    1. Reviewed for queuemyreview; book release Aug08Women’s rights! Whether you are a homemaker or a ‘career’ woman (and what the heck do people think…being a homemaker is the hardest-working, least-paying ‘career’ there is!), I think I can safely say that we all agree on the premise of women having power in their lives. What we don’t often take the time to consider is the medical invention that’s done more to give power to women than just about anything else…safe, reliable, and affo [...]

    2. My Thoughts:Contains one spoiler that you'll find out about in the first few chapters. Read at your own discretionThis was a quick & enjoyable read. Cassandra & Vincent were two completely different people who wanted the same thing deep down inside: to love & be loved. While Cassandra was sugar & spice & everything nice, Vincent was a womanizing asshat content with one night stands. This is one of those "The love of a good woman can reform a bad boy" historical romances but [...]

    3. 3½ stars. The story ain't bad, it's just not my cup of tea, is all. I like my historical romance sweet and romantic and sexy. This one however is more on the serious, somber side. But I do enjoy some part of the story though, and it does gets interesting as the story moves along.

    5. This book starts of with a bang (quite literally). Vincent and Cassandra are instantly besotted with each other. For Vincent this is just one night, but something happens that connects him with Cassandra forever. A year later, Cassandra brings their daughter to his home for him to care for as she thinks that she is going to die. Vincent reluctantly agrees to care for their child, but then when she discovers that she is not as ill as she though, she tries to leave with their daughter. Vincent has [...]

    6. Have it in Audio Regency Romance . Book 2 in the Series . Hero is Vincent . Heroine is Cassandra. Vincent is a Rake through and through . One night he meets Lady Cassandra . Cassandra is a recent widow . They have a wild night together . Cassandra thinks she can't conceive . A yr later Vincent is going back to Pembroke Palace with Lady Latisha. Vincent father the Duke has in his will that his sons have to marry or else they lose everything , their inheritance . That same day Lady Cassandra shows [...]

    7. Probably would have enjoyed this one if not for the fact that I hated the hero and heroine. Cassandra is all right in most respects, but I really got tired of listening to her wax poetic about the dramatically tragic mistake she made sleeping with a guy when they weren't married. Just Ugh. And Vincent is an ass. He may be cute, he may be charming, but he's an ass. I didn't like him in the first book, and he wasn't much better here. Julianne Maclean's writing really leaves me sort of "meh"ed out. [...]

    8. I picked this up because a review site I like gave it an A. What where they smoking?? I give it a C at best. The writing was nothing special, the characters rather two-dimensional. The plot was okay. Yawn. There was nothing horribly wrong with it, it just wasn't my cuppa tea.I have been trying to expand my list of Romance authors. Sorry Julianne, you didn't make the cut.

    9. Nice reentry back into historical romanceDecent book with fast paced plot and well thought out characters. I wish there was more background into the father and his issues but I got enough from the story to read the rest of the series. This was a nice quick read.

    10. “I will take good care of her,” she assured him. “No one will do that better than I can.”He gestured toward her with a hand. “But you don’t have the resources.”All at once her cheeks colored with anger and her eyes burned with resolve. “You don’t know the first thing about ‘resources’ when it comes to dedicating your life to someone. What June will have from me is love. Beautiful, selfless, priceless love. Nothing is more important than that.”Keeping her eyes on the sky, [...]

    12. Widowed Cassandra's one night of passion with Lord Sinclair has a nine-month-later repercussion.Good thing: I liked how Cassandra stood up for herself and her child while still allowing herself to realize she was physically attracted to Sinclair.Bad thing: I didn't read the first book in this series so maybe this is why the subplot with Lord Sinclair's mad father made no sense to me.I don't read many romances anymore, so having finished this one (even with some skimming thrown in) is an indicati [...]

    14. 4 stars.I don't particularly fancy "instant desire" storylines or books that start off with a sexual encounter with no connection, but this started as such and I really liked it. MacLean made it work well in a way that it gives you great insight into the characters straight up. She seems to do that quite well actually, and has done so with both books of hers that I've read.In some ways I liked The Mistress Diaries better than In My Wildest Fantasies (book 1 of the series) and vice versa. In this [...]

    15. It had been a long time since I'd read a romance novel and when I was packing for a four day camping trip, it seemed like a good time to pick up one of the ones I brought back with me from a used bookshop in Scottsdale last Christmas. This one isn't just the Best Ev-er (actually, the longer I think about it, the worse it stands with me), but it was a quick read and it worked for me, while I was reading it, at least. I actually kind of liked that the book started with the steamy sexual encounter [...]

    16. I enjoyed the story, but something was lacking in my opinion. I'm a huge fan of Julianne MacLean's, I remember reading To Marry The Duke and falling instantly in love with both the main characters, and wanting them to "live happily ever after". I know that it doesn't always happen but I was so expecting it with this book. The previous books haven't been up to snuff to certain readers, and some of those books I've enjoyed, and others that I haven't. But I still haven't found that spark that I fou [...]

    17. It was barely okay, nothing memorable. This story was not as good as the previous story, In My Wildest Fantasies, at all. I really enjoyed that story. this one was just okay, kinda dull really. Nothing memorable happened. The hero and heroine were just sort of boring. The story line and plot were lacking terribly. Like another reviewer said a one night stand ends up in Baby Mama Drama, of the boring kind. There was a lot of dialogue so that was good. There was a couple of nicely written sex scenes [...]

    19. This was an easy read with lots of emotion, sex and adventure. To be honest, I didn't care for Vincent as he was presented in the book about the 1st brother, Devon (In my Wildest Fantasies). So I was a little leery when I picked this one up to read. However, I enjoyed this book as much as the 1st one! Devon and his bride make appearances thru-out the book I enjoyed their mentions very much as I didn't want their story to end. And my opinion of Vincent changed as he evolved and some of the reason [...]

    20. Overcome with lust, proper Lady Cassandra enters into a night of wild passion with Lord Vincent Sinclair, a notorious rake. A one time affair he leaves without saying goodbye. Believing she is barren, unexpectenly becomes pregnant. A year later, penniless she brings their daughter to Vincent to take care of their baby. Vincent can't let her go and she reluctantly stays with him although he is engaged to be married! Unable to fight their attraction she becomes his mistress because Vincent's fathe [...]

    21. Cassandra Montrose was to marry Clarence Hibbert. Instead, she sneaks off for one night of pleasure with Vincent Sinclair. In the morning he is gone. One year later, Vincent is to marry Letitia Markham. Vincent's family is supposedly marked by madness. Cassandra shows at his estate; she is ill; she has a daughter that she says belongs to him. She recovers and takes the child June; he chases her down, offering her a house in the country. He will raise June and give her a dowry. His father thinks [...]

    22. This is a beautiful story of love and family values. The story illustrates how two people come together and slowly and cautiously build a relationship of value by both making changes to their opinions of each other and getting to know and trust each other more.Soon love blossoms and flourishes and they build a true and everlasting relationship and this is when they find their own family values and ties.Rosalyn Landor does a splendid narration and made this an easy to listen to audiobook which I t [...]

    23. It was okay. I loved the sizzling hot sex however was a bit confused of the daughter's description at the end. I probably mis-read it but "the beauty of the illegitimate daughter who possessed the golden hair and entrancing eyes of the mother." I thought June favoured her father with dark hair and dark eyes. Found the epilogue to be a bit rushed and cookie-cutter and should have expanded a bit more although the two sentences about June's ending seem to indicate the demise of these particular cha [...]

    24. One night of passion turns Cassandra's life upside down. Libertine Vincent guards his heart behind a wall to rival the Tower of London thanks to a lover's betrayal in his youth. While I enjoyed the characters and the writing, I can't say I devoured this with the fervor of my last read. I dislike when plots include female rivals and this one had a most irritating female rival. It also lacked the spirited clashing between the main characters I generally like in my romances.

    25. I wasn't too sure about this story in the beginning but it evolves into a really interesting and relatively complex story about a rake and the consequences of his behavior towards a young woman. The characters are well written and the storyline is intriguing and different. Every once in awhile it bogs down in some slight stupidity on the part of the H and h, but for the most part a lovely romantic story.

    26. This was the first book I've read by Ms.MacLean, but it won't be my last. Although I found one or two diary entries out of sequence (at the beginning of each chapter), I put it aside and read it in one day. The characters were well drawn out and although the story's plot was quite "common", it was a good read. Of course, as with this type of book, you always know there will be an HEA by the end of the story.

    28. This book was more like a 3.5, but I decided to be generous. Overall this was a very quick read, and I enjoyed it, but there were aspects of the storyline that seemed a tad corny. The instant connection between the characters was underdeveloped so it didn't seem believable or compelling, and I had a hard time believing that the leading man could change so quickly, but it was entertaining.
