    1. 2016 Newbery Honor Book. I really liked it. Got involved in each of the character's stories and wanted them to continue. Luckily they did as they converged at the end in New York City (19551). Being the romantic that I am, now that they were all together in the same place, I wanted them to also find out that the harmonica had played a very important part in each of their lives and share their stories with each other. Also shows how each character dealt with prejudices in each of their situations [...]

    2. The structure of Echo was very unique and beautiful. The smaller stories within the book were told separately and then weaved together at the end, which made the book interesting and full of suspense. And each individual story was so touching. The characters are so well-developed, I still think about them from time to time and feel what they felt--pain, discrimination, sadness, joy, fulfillment. . . A must-read!!
