    1. I had a bit of a debate with myself before rating this book. A part of me wished to give it three stars, whereas another part of me wished to give it four stars. Overall, it’s a three-point-five star read. In the end, I opted to round down instead of up. This doesn’t mean it is not deserving of a four star rating, merely that I was leaning more towards the three stars when I stopped to think about it.Behind the Altar is the first book in the Behind the Love series, and it was a very interest [...]

    2. Leah Bryant has a perfect life. Engaged to the local minister, Jacob Davis, in the town of Victory, Florida, Leah spends her spare time running "Soup's On," where she feeds and cares for the local homeless people in the area. When the church board votes to stop funding the charity, Leah's life is thrown into chaos. Leah's passion is fueled by the knowledge of what it was like to be homeless. Jacob's mother, Geraldine found Leah on the streets as a teenager and welcomed her into her own home year [...]

    3. "Behind the Altar" by P.C. Zick is a romance with excellently drawn characters and marvellous chemistry between them.I was surprised to see that the author had chosen a church as the setting for her first romance novel, but given the strength of her other writing I gave the book a try. Surprisingly enough the setting worked very well.Leah, our main character, runs a soup kitchen and is engaged to the minister. Her focus is to keep the kitchen for the homeless running. Once a homeless herself thi [...]

    4. This book was amazing and really tackled some difficult issues!Leah is engaged to Jacob Davis, a minister in the local church where she runs her Soup's On program for the homeless. Geraldine, Jacob's mom cancels the program and seems to control everything Leah and Jacob do.In comes Dean Davis, Jacob's brother who Leah was told was dead. From their first kiss upon meeting sparks fly!Leah is torn between the two brothers and is not sure what to do but there is a major issues coming into play and L [...]

    5. Behind the Altar is beyond your typical steamy guilty pleasure. The pleasure is all there with a riveting story line and plenty of passion, but the underlying thought-provoking social threads are woven neatly and subtly by the author. Zick has mastered the art of the strip tease with this one. Just when you can't stand the heat, you're right in the middle of a soup kitchen for the homeless. It's total brain candy that will have you aching for the next book in the series. It's one of those you'll [...]

    6. Leah Bryant feeds the homeless of Deer River Camp from a Church kitchen. How long will her altruistic motives get support from those around her? To complicate things even further, Dean Davis, her future brother in law walks into her life. Read more about the truth behind Dean Davis and his mother in this fast paced and interesting book that holds interest throughout. I loved the moral underlying the story of not judging a book by its cover. I look forward to reading the other two books in the tr [...]

    7. Engaged to one brother but wanting the other. Such is Leah's plight in this compelling story of forbidden love that is the first in an exciting new trilogy. The chemistry between Leah and Dean burns hot, and provides an interesting contrast to the backdrop of a church soup kitchen for homeless vets, which Is Leah's other passion. With well-drawn characters, especially a villain that readers should be hating for a while, this book is a winner.

    8. This story was so much more than what I expected!! Behind the Altar had it all - romance, drama, suspensedid I mention romance?! Between solid, caring Jacob - the man Leah has come to depend on, and mysterious, sexy Dean - the man she just can't stop thinking about, this love triangle will keep you tangled up until the end and you'll enjoy every second of it!

    9. Great storyI really enjoyed this book ,however it was a little strange how Leah became so sexually aggressive after her first sexual experience that to me was a little out of sync with the character, but as I said a very enjoyable story. I received this book free for my honest review

    10. This is the first book by this author that I've read and what a good read. This is the first book in this series and can be read as a stand alone read. The attraction between the characters is perfectly written. The added dark secret in the plot just adds to the story. The love story between the characters feels real and honest. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future. Highly recommendedI voluntarily reviewed an adva [...]

    11. Gentle easy readLikeable characters and an easy story to read. Leah and Dean are transparent and open about how they feel about each other, but this is a bit unrealistic although refreshing. The abuse of the brothers could have been expanded to give the reader a deeper understanding of the issue. It's often overlooked when it happens to boys. The ease of how quickly and how willingly Leah jumped into a sexual relationship before marriage as a believer was disturbing.

    12. A well written, enjoyable story with some adult content. Hard-hitting issues such as child abuse, homelessness and small town bigotry are the underlying themes to this romantic love story. A lot in less than 200 pages

    13. LoveThis book is about how child abuse changes people. It shows that you can do better. Love and friendship can happen.

    14. This book piqued my interest due to the name, I read the description, and when I read this book, I was hooked. This book from start to finish had you thinking one way, and pleasantly were surprised with something happier, something more real. I love the characters and the intertwining of them. Leah and Dean are a great couple and the trials they went through prior to meeting each other, to the trials during the time they knew each other made this even more endearing. Nothing vulgar nothing out o [...]

    15. I loved this story. It is my first book I am reading by P.C.Zick but definitely not the last. I already purchased the next book in this series. This book had a wonderful romance develop in it while bringing to the forefront of the story two issues that we are faced with today. Child abuse and neglect of our veterans which leads to them being homeless. I recommend everyone read this book and that you are inspired by what the heroine does to aide homelessness.

    16. This is the first book that I have read from P.C. Zick and enjoyed it from start to finish. Leah Bryant's mother-in-law annoyed me, as she was supposed to do I guess.Behind the Altar shows that things don't always go the way we think they will.I look forward to reading more books from the author.
