    1. It was a good marriage, one of the fifty percent or so that kept working over the long haul. She believed that in the same unquestioning way she believed that gravity would hold her to the earth when she walked down the sidewalk. Until that night in the garageIt wasn't a picture perfect marriage- but for the last 27 years- Darcy Anderson thought it was pretty darn close. A little dull, yesbut she was content with her life of no surprises. A house in Portland, Maine. A solid mail order business- [...]

    2. What a ride! Un-put-down-able. A perfect story. Maybe the scariest psychopath ever. But this also was one of the weirdest reading experiences ever. Beware Kindle users! In most cases, there aren’t page numbers on the Kindle (Yeah, I know. WTF?) Instead, you see a percentage showing how far you’ve read. I’ll tell you this: For a non-math person, this really sucks. I hate percentages and I hate the damn percent sign. Don’t get me started. Anyway, for some bizarre reason, I feel the need to [...]

    4. Find all of my reviews at: 52bookminimum/How well do you know your spouse? Sure, you think you know all the little nuances about them – and I’m positive you know the things about them that annoy you – but can you ever really know everything about another person? After 27 years of marriage, Darcy was sure she knew everything about Bob . . . until one night when she went out to the garage and stubbed her toe on a box that wasn’t where it was supposed to be . . . “One lousy little step in [...]

    5. I've been married for a number of years, and surprising enough, we continue to learn something new about one another nearly everyday. However, there are things I hope I never learn about him things like the wife in this story stumbled across in the garage, leading her to a horrific revelation about her husband. OMG I would die. Probably literally if it's anything like this husband's secret! Tell me you're gay, tell me you wish you were born a woman, tell me you want to move to Egypt, tell me you [...]

    6. THE GOOD MARRIAGEMurder! Murder! Murder! After twenty-seven years of marriage, Darcy thought she knew everything there was to know about her mild-mannered CPA husband Bobuntil one night she literally stumbles upon some information hidden in a secret compartment in the garage so heinous and shocking, she cannot believe her eyesbut what was she to dod then Bob calls at his scheduled timehe'll know something is wrongDeadly Good suspenseful story with chills and thrills. (must see movie)1922In this [...]

    7. OK, Stephen KingHere is a newsflash.1)Being a 47 year old woman, I don't know of ANY 47 year old women who own housecoats. What was next for poor Darcy? Were you going to write her with curlers in her hair and a cigarette hanging from her yellow stained fingertips?2) Unless she breast fed an entire village, a slightly endowed woman's breasts wouldn't be saggy at 47. Haell I know well endowed women whose girls still stand at attention!3) I am shocked that you didn't write her as having one foo [...]

    8. 3.5 starsI really enjoyed this short novel by Stephen King as it was supensfull short and entertaining. I listened to this on audio and at 3.5 hours long is quite short but well narrated and kept me entertained. I am not a fan of Stephen King novels but this one really floated my boat as it was dark and disturbing. In this story Darcy and Bob Anderson are empty-nesters, a couple who have had a good and happy marriage raised their children and are comfortable in their lives and routines.Bob is an [...]

    9. Fantastic novel, well written King has such a way with words, names, characters, plot this book was amazing. Great storyline that makes myself as a wife question what I would do if I were in Darcy’s shoes. Not as sinister as his others but I like that he toned this one down. I didn’t want gore and guts and nasty words jumping at me. Highly recommend!

    10. How well does anyone know their mate? Darcy thinks she knows her husband of twenty-seven-plus years really well. That is until her batteries in her TV remote die and she goes to the garage hunting for some fresh ones. What she discovers in the garage changes life as she knew it for good. Stephen King wrote a tale disturbingly unsettling tale, because it’s something that could happen to anyone, has happened, in fact. I had to ask myself: What would I do in a similar situation? Darcy’s reactio [...]

    11. What a great look at two short stories (novellas) by Stephen King."A Good Marriage" does a great what if. What if you find out the person you married, had children with, made love to, told your troubles to, was not who they seemed to be. What if they were a monster? What would you do? King does a great job of showing a marriage of comfort that gets upended when something sinister is revealed. No spoilers, just don't know if I could have been as strong. One reason why I love King, and always will [...]

    12. This is a great Stephen King short that can be found in his compilation, Full Dark, No Stars. The premiss is quite frightening actually, do we really know anybody? After being married for 27 years a woman finds out that her husband has more than one unthinkable secret. I watched the movie and it was done very well. Stephen King wrote the script with just a few added character parts but the story was the same.

    13. My rating: 3 of 5 stars‘Did she know everything about him? Of course not. No more than he knew everything about her [] There was no knowing everything, but she felt that after twenty-seven years, they knew all the important things. It was a good marriage, one of the fifty percent or so that kept working over the long haul. She believed that in the same unquestioning way she believed that gravity would hold her to the earth when she walked down the sidewalk.Until that night in the garage.’Dar [...]

    14. "A Good Marriage" and "1922"When I first started reading A Good Marriage I had the nagging thought that I’d read it before, and the further I read the more sure I was.I checked on . I’d added this book in August 2014, and it was published in September 2014. Now I know I’m becoming forgetful, but there is no way that I wouldn’t remember a Stephen King book that I’d read in the last two months. No way!I read a bit more and was certain that I’d read it. I checked my Calibre library, I c [...]

    15. A few weeks ago I was looking at the Netflix streaming new releases and saw a movie, "Stephen King's A Good Marriage". I'm a huge King fan and had never heard of any book or story with that title, nor had I heard anything about the movie. Anyway, I put it on my "to watch" list, guessing that perhaps he had just written a screenplay. However, on the very same day I was browsing GR and saw that my friend Cheryl had read and enjoyed it. Naturally I immediately purchased a copy (it's only available [...]

    16. In this King short story, Darcy Anderson is on a mission; to find batteries for her blessed television remote. Checking in the pristine garage of her husband of twenty-seven years, Bob, she stumbles across something she never thought possible. Taking the time to examine it, she ponders how well she knew the man she married and what this means for her, as well as for them. While she makes a decision that suits her best, she tips her hand in a call to Bob, who is away on business, and begins a ser [...]

    17. I bet this was a great audiobook. I can't imagine how horrific this scenario would be in real life. I read most of this book at night, I could literally feel the tension when he arrived home unexpectedly. Spooky. ************Spoiler Alert **************If someone had handed me this story and withheld the author's name, I would never have guessed it was written by Stephen King. This is a very scary, realistic, novella. The horror doesn't come from some malevolent spirit. It comes from a dangerous [...]

    18. I used to be a big King fan but slowly moved away from his books sometime after Christine. The other day I saw him interviewed about the new film based on this novella and was intrigued with the storyline. What if your husband isn't the man you thought he was; what if he's a monster? I picked up the book and read it in one sitting since it's less than 100 pages. You know how it is when you run into an old friend you haven't seen for a long time? Sometimes you pick up right where you left off. Th [...]

    19. What would you do if you found out that you husband is not who you thought he was? This was such an interesting story. A woman finds put her husband's deepest secret and has to make a choice. Should she forgive him? Should she do something?I really loved the beginning of this story. The tension was built up perfectly, the emotions were described thoroughly.Honestly, the only problem I had was that the second half, which sould've been the longer one, seemed too short and fast paced for my taste. I [...]

    20. At around three hours in length, A Good Marriage is the perfect fall listen. I can assure you that if you grab the ear-buds it will make the task of raking leaves an easy accomplishment. I ended up listening to this while cleaning my home, and found myself frequently sitting as the tension increased.Bob and Darcy Anderson have been married for almost twenty-six years. He is a traveling executive, and she stayed home to raise their two children. Their lives scream suburbia, from the cars they dri [...]

    21. Ok, but not as good as the author’s other stories.Kind of dragged. It’s mostly the wife’s internal worries, confusion, and what to do. Not much action or suspense. This is a short story in the anthology “Full Dark, No Stars.” I purchased the audiobook which was just this story. It’s about a woman who was married for 27 years and accidentally discovered that her husband had been a serial killer all that time, and she did not know. There were no detailed scenes of sex and violence, but t [...]

    22. Four Stars: A riveting, unsettling tale that proves you can't ever really know someone.Darcy Anderson is irritated. Her favorite tv show is about to start, but she can't change the channel because the batteries in her remote control are dead. Bob isn't home to do it for her, so Darcy has to run out into the chilly garage and find the batteries before her show starts. Little does she know, this unexpected trip to the garage will change her life forever when she stubs her toe on a box sticking out [...]

    23. Uncle Stevie does it again!I recently started a new job and found myself dedicating my commute to audiobooks (far more than I did with my previous job - strange!). Looking for something quick but entertaining, I grabbed SK's A Good Marriage, clocking in at around 3ish hours I believe.A woman believes she has a truly great marriage and a comfy life until she stumbles upon her husband's deadly secret: he's possibly a notorious serial killer.I listened to this one in two chunks and enjoyed it, thou [...]

    24. The audio version of this longish short story clocks in at three hours and thirty-three minutes. It harbors no SF, fantasy, or supernatural components, which frequently inhabit King's works. This is a straightforward horror/suspense piece. But for a few slack portions of the narrative, the pacing is pleasing, the exposition is handled brisk and cleanly, and the characters feel genuine rather than clunky marionettes. The murder details are gruesome and chilling, and at least one crime involves a c [...]

    25. *3.5 stars"It was a good marriage, one of the fifty percent or so that kept working over the long haul". Yes, it was a good marriage. Until it wasn't. When her husband of 27 years is away on one of his business trips, Darcy Anderson looks for batteries in the garage. What she finds instead is a horrifying discoverybut will it end a good marriage? How many surprises can really be left after sharing decades with another person? Well, Darcy is about to find out. Then she's going to have to decide w [...]

    26. I had A Good Marriage on Kindle and didn't realize that 1922 was also included. While A Good Marriage is probably considered a short story, I read them both for a total of 253 pages. Both were quite King-ly, putting every day events under the microscope and finding all sorts of horrors. There's a reason why police look at the spouse first. Entertaining and enlightening.

    27. Excellent short story. Stephen King gets into the mind of a madman and his unsuspecting wife. Concise, and well written. I love his style of writing. Excellent character development and plot line. I love his newer work as well as the old. Keep writing Stephen King!! .From another happy and devoted fan! I know that when I get one of his books, I will be engrossed til the end!

    28. Very much Gillian Flynn-like but so polished. I found this accidentally and really enjoyed it as a quick read. The story was perfectly constructed, I suppose that's what happens when you have written as many stories as Stephen King has and you're a literary genius.
