    1. Make this your first Fall read! The pictures are delightful, with scenes of nature preparing for the season: trees, insects, squirrels and geese. And the little girl collects all the wonders she sees and puts them in a little scrapbook - such a clever and sentimental idea. I want to do one!Ages: 2 - 6#fall #autumn

    2. Lovely Prismacolor illustrations on watercolor paper are the stars in this tiny book, part of a series about the delights of the seasons. The narrator feels a bit of a nip in the air, and heads out to see if there are signs of autumn's arrival. Young readers can follow along and pay heed to the sights and sounds that indicate summer's departure. Since many of these signs are so recognizable, readers will feel comforted in the approaching change, making this title well worth sharing with others a [...]

    3. This rhyming story will have young readers experimenting and learning about autumn in a scavenger hunt, adventurous way. The realistic illustrations give readers fall clues to look for while wandering outside; animal behaviors, insects, sounds, weather, and changes in the leaves, to mention a few. The main character in the story hints at collecting and photographing some of these clues in order to follow its lead in preparing a Fall Scrapbook with these findings. The child in the story is drawn [...]

    4. Note: This book would best best read one-on-one. It is a delightful little book, but the format and size would not work for storytime. Crisp air and gray skies beckon a little girl to thoroughly investigate the outside world: chipmunks, squirrels, insects, and fallen leaves all hint that a change of season is coming. Young readers can explore the signs of autumn along with the adventurous child narrator in this charming conclusion to the series on the seasons.NotesWong Herbert Yee has written an [...]

    5. My Autumn Book by Wong Herbert Yee is a story that brings young children through all the aspects of fall. It introduces them to the many beautiful things nature produces with the change of season. It teaches kids about leaves changing colors, acorns, crickets, spiders, and cooler weather. I love this book because it can introduce lots of exciting adventures right from the start of the school year. One adventure I would enjoy is bringing the children of a nature walk and having them discover and [...]

    6. The rhyming text is very simple and would make a good introduction for what happens in fall for preschoolers or kindergarteners. The section on the types of trees, though, is detailed in that it mentions each type of tree specifically and shows a realistic drawing of each tree and its leaf. The colored pencil illustrations are highly realistic with a sweet, soft feel to them. This book is suitable for classroom or storytime use as a read-aloud for fall and could pair with a project for students [...]

    7. A nice story about the coming of autumn. A little girl explores outdoors at the changes coming from summer to fall. She observes animals and trees, taking pictures and collecting mementos. She creates a book of Autumn from the treasures she finds and the photos she took, so she can remember fall. Rhyming text makes it fun to read aloud, but the small physical size might be tough for story times. A great lap sit story for one-on-one reading.

    8. Gently illustrated, very detailed for a picture book. In simple words and sentences, it describes all manner of things to look for in fall, above and beyond "the leaves change colors and we have Halloween." It mentions cicadas, squirrel hoarding behavior, temperature changes, and many other things that the little ones are learning to notice, but it does it without feeling like it's overly complicated or trying to stuff in extra educational stuff.

    9. It was a cute idea, but the kids didn't really get into it much. They liked it ok, and again, liked the idea, just not the whole book. Perhaps it took too long of looking at autumn things to get to the story ending, I don't know, and they got bored with page after page of autumn. They did very much like the ending, and the start, though.

    10. This is the final book in Wong Herbert Lee's series features each of the four seasons, which are wonderful pairings for student projects about seasonal changes. There are also some really great examples of anthropomorphism in My Autumn Book when Yee is describing the autumnal changes of trees that are absolutely gorgeous!

    11. Listed in CCBC Choices 2016 under Seasons and Celebrations. Rhyming text. Love that the little girl in the story is photographing nature and observing all the changes that autumn brings. Sweet Spot: Grades K-2

    12. Finely detailed and lovingly illustrated, this is an excellent introduction to all things autumn. Details some examples of trees and things to expect during this season. Recommended.

    13. Wonderful book for sharing during Autumn, as it illustrates the changes occurring between the seasons. Illustrations are great and peaceful.
