    1. My sister and I used this book recently to do an elimination diet. Here are my thoughts:Pros: - recipes were delicious - ingredients were readily available in my hippie west coast city- cookbook made it relatively easy to stick to a food plan- really provided food for thought with respect to personal health and food choices Cons:- food challenge ingredients were ludicrously expensive - I lost so much sleep to food prep that I couldn't tell whether it was the food or the lack of sleep causing my [...]

    2. First of all I want to say that this book IS NOT about calories, fats, carbs or portion control. It is not about depriving yourself of your favorite foods or punishing yourself. This book IS about creating new awareness how foods you eat make you feel. I have Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, Chronic Fatigue as well as migraines. This book gave me some ideas on how to address my current diet so that I can lessen my symptoms. This book is great for those who have food allergies. You could [...]

    3. Disclaimer: I only skimmed this book and didn't follow the plan to a T. However, I did follow the general concepts for approximately the recommended amount of time. I'm reviewing the overall program.I have this long-held belief system that food could be at the root cause of anything wrong with me. I had an allergy test done several years ago and the results were negative, though somewhat inconclusive. Still, I wondered if I modified my diet if I could positively change some negative health sympt [...]

    4. After the holidays I plan to give this a try in order to see if I have any food sensitivities. A lot of what is written makes sense, but there are certain things I question. Particularly his insistence that many people have a gluten sensitivity. I know it's a very current diet fad, but the scientists who first "discovered" gluten sensitivity have since done a far larger, thorough, and intense study where they determined that their initial findings were incorrect. They have thus concluded gluten [...]

    5. As a Health Coach, I love this book. Even if you don’t follow the full diet plan, it gives great information everyone should know in some form or another. It also has really good recipes! A lot of what I have been making lately has been from these recipes and I will definitely be making them again. The diet plan is great for anyone experience chronic symptoms in the body where you feel like you might not be getting any answers from your dr. Food heals and this book is a wonderful plan for heal [...]

    6. Essential guide for conducting an elimination diet for food allergies. I have looked at others, and what set this guide above is the plethora of research cited throughout the book and added as source material in the back. Plus the beginning of the book does an excellent job explaining what constitutes a healthy gut and what happens when your gastro system breaks down. You begin with a two day detox and then go into the 13 days elimination diet , which takes away all the well known food allergens [...]

    7. If you haven't done or considered an elimination diet, then this is a good book that explains GI issues related to food intolerances. The book explains leaky gut, gluten intolerance vs celiac disease, the problems with corn and soy. I found the discussion on the other items to be eliminated (coffee, chocolate, eggs, etc.) to be minimal. There's also some discussion about recommended supplementation. This is not a complete discussion, so you would likely want to read more elimination books than j [...]

    8. This book is invaluable in helping to understand how the food we eat is processed and assimilated by the body - but most importantly, how it nourishes or harms us. Tom Malterre writes in a style that helps a layperson understand this biochemistry of how the body interacts with what we put in it. I followed the elimination diet phase and am now "challenging," or selectively testing, specific types of foods to learn once and for all if they aggravate me or not. I gave up wheat and gluten years ago [...]

    9. I've gone through an elimination diet twice, once with Mark Hyman's Blood Sugar Solution and once under a doctor's supervision. But I've kept my eyes open for a book that would simplify the process. I have friends and family who could benefit from identifying problem foods, but it's so complicated to manage the giant lists of yes/no foods and find recipes that work. Most people hear what I'm doing and react, "No way I could get that organized!"The Elimination Diet seemed a likely candidate: its [...]

    10. First I would like to thank NetGalley, Tom Malterre, Alissa Segersten, and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with this book so I may bring you this honest review. The Elimination Diet is not your average diet. This is not about calories, fats, carbs or portion control. It is not about depriving yourself of your favorite foods or punishing yourself. It is about creating new awareness how foods you eat make you feel. By reading this book I gained a lot of knowledge on what I have been eati [...]

    11. This book is excellent! So many resources and great information about the elimination diet! As a health coach I mainly bought the book as a reference as I went through the elimination diet and helped others go through it as well. I almost didn't buy the book, but now I'm so glad I did. Packed with so many recipes, a sample meal plan for each of the phases, and a guide for each of the phases, everything you need to know is in here! The book was easy to read and I'll definitely be using it as a gu [...]

    12. Clear and full of suggestion, even if for a person like me (Italian) eliminate all the gluten, the dairy stuff and the coffee is really really problematic, but I'm pretty sure that this diet helps to understand if there is something specific in the way we eat that we have to give up, almost forever.Chiaro e pieno di suggerimenti, anche se per una persona come me (italiana) eliminare tutte le fonti di glutine, i derivati del latte e il caffe potrebbe essere veramente difficoltoso, ma sono sicura [...]

    13. The program is quite rigorous and to their credit the authors recommend not even considering doing it during holidays because of all the food choices we already face during those times. They include detailed food lists of foods to avoid and those you can eat as well as a collection of recipes. I looked some of them over and without even attempting the program saw quite a few that looked easy to prepare and would taste delicious. From a healthy eating perspective I’d say give the book a look— [...]

    14. Another diet book ? Well, this one is a little different. If you are serious about getting to the root of a possible food intolerance then this book might just be for you. There are a series of steps to this "Diet" and you would have to be committed and serious to the process. It does seem like a laborious process but for those who have good health and wellbeing on the top of their list, this book is worth investigating. The book also offers some recipes, however I didn't try any of them. It is [...]

    15. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is an excellent resource for those about to undergo an elimination diet. It contains a plan and recipes for each plan phase. That being said I don't think the book added that much information about how the diet works. I think most of the non plan/recipe information is on the internet. Not that this is a horrible thing. The book is a useful compendium for those going on the diet, just not people like me who are cheap/looking for mor [...]

    16. I have used Tom and Alissa's work for about 8 years now. Through their blog and cookbooks, they taught me how to reorient my cooking and eating around gluten free whole foods. This is a wonderful addition to their offerings. A whole book dedicated to step by step elimination of trigger foods so you can get to the bottom of nagging health problems. Detailed explanations of how food works in the body, why certain foods can be causing you pain/illness and a thorough plan on how to change your diet [...]

    17. Interesting read! I was so excited to receive a copy in exchange for a review. Most of the information was common sense that I don't think we really think about or take into consideration. I was pleasantly surprised to learn all of the ways that food that we put into our bodies can affect usi.e. not just weight gain. I am excited to try to eliminate certain foods to see if it will improve my fatigue or eliminate some of the my migraines.

    18. Informative & interesting read. It did bring up a good point that Drs keep prescribing medications for various conditions and illnesses but don't address the root problems of proper nutrition. I did feel like the book was a bit melodramatic in explaining the chemical dangers of basically everything I use in my life as well as the possible life-changing effects the Elimination Diet can do for my life, but I guess we'll see the outcome of the latter soon!

    19. I have finished the book, but not the plantI am in Phase 2 of the book with one more Phase to complete before I find what is troubling my body. This book as A LOT of information, which I found useful in my quest to bettering myself. Do not be overloaded or burdened by it. It is fascinating to know how things affect us and what their effects are on us.

    20. Practical and clear book about how to implement an elimination diet for oneself. In my opinion, too many examples trying to prove how good the method is. I'd rather just understand it and test it myself than read all the success stories. Still, good reference book that could be useful for many.

    21. This was a very different read compared to my typical reads. I found it very informational on how food effects the body, and maybe causing health issues.Lots of suggestions and tips.Would recommend.**I received a digital copy of this book in exchange of an honest review**

    22. This is the best book on discovery your problem foods. I am currently following the diet and am excited to know what foods have been wreaking havoc on my system.
