    1. 22/02/2014 - I feel the need to write an update. I've read the first five chapters - got to that point a week or two ago, and I've not been able to face it since. It's a well written book, but I am not enjoying it at all and don't feel like I want to continue at the moment. As I won it on a giveaway, I feel I need to try more with it, so for now I've put it to one side and I'm going to give it another go in a couple of weeks.06/03/2015 - Well, I never did get back to this one. 2. I won the book in the GoodReads giveaway. 'Falling Awake' by Charles, J. Harwood is a well-written and interesting read. Everytime, I closed the book I struggled to come back to reality, and I constantly caught myself analysing the events presented in the book. The book is a great challenge on psychological level. The main character of the book, Gemma, who is on the edge of losing her house, accepts a job offer to perform erotic routines for Luke, chronic insomniac, who is watching her (and one [...]

    3. I found this book a little difficult to get into, at first, and wouldn't categorise this as an easy read. This would not be a typical storyline, I would be drawn to, however I thought the plot, well thought out (if a little unusual), and felt in retrospect that it was handled quite well.I wasn't totally surprised by the ending, feeling in a sense that the ending was a natural progression to the storyline, but enjoyed what for me was a very " different read".

    4. This was the second novel by Harwood that I was asked to read and review give that they are a local author. The subject matter of this though appealed to me a lot less than the other novel. The activities of an insomniac voyeur and how a woman down on her luck comes to feature in his staged encounters just wasn't my thing. However, the writing was fine with some good scenes in terms of Gemma's problems and how she resolved them.

    5. I thought this book was a brilliant psychological chiller. It was very unusual, beautifully written, and compelling. In some ways the storyline reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock at his best.I'll certainly be reading more books by this author.
