    1. This is a tale of survival, one which is set in a harsh environment, and one that sees the effects of abuse. The brilliant writing style brings alive the very real thoughts and feelings of two characters, while the rest of the cast fit well in the supporting roles so that the plot is both realistic and believable.I don't give spoilers but will say that this unusual romance story is not easy to read because of the subject matter, yet, you fly through the pages due to the fast pace.Very well done.

    2. This book totally captured my heart. From page one, reading what a monster RT Janeway was to Deidre and Sylvie made my blood boil. He got just what he deserved and I cheered Dee every step of the way. This book teaches us survival, triumph and redemption. Dee and Sylvie were left to make the most of the crappy hand of life they were dealt. Sworn never to trust a man again, Daniel re-enters the picture. After four long years away, he returns only to find out his father is dead. He walks into a la [...]

    3. This story will stay with you a long time.Much like the Deirdre of Irish legend, the Deirdre in this story was trapped in the power of a lecherous old man who abused her. But, unlike the Deirdre of legend, rather than killing herself in grief, she takes drastic steps to protect herself, and those she loves. However, when her stepbrother unexpectedly returns to town, her carefully built house of cards is threatened. Can they learn to trust one another again? Will the secrets, and memories of abus [...]

    4. I have read a book from this author before, and decided to have a look at her other works. The synopsis grabbed me and from the first page I was pulled in to the life of Dee and the horrors of her past. The characters are well written and developed, the story going back and forth between Dee's point of view and Daniel's and while not your usual romance, the love story is at the center. Well crafted and a very enjoyable read! I will be reading more from this author!

    5. Loaded with heart, soul, fascinating and complex characters, and a real sense of what life in Alaska is like.
