    1. Lesley for bigbooklittlebookCopy provided by author in exchange for an honest review.Harriet Lawson is my kind of gal. Feisty and with a great sense of humour, she has some fabulous one liners and is a great main character for this book. Unfortunately she is partnered with a bit of a smarmy loser, Julian, who has done the dirty on her big time - but not in the way you might think. Having given up on her dream to nurse in underprivileged areas abroad in order to support Julian in his new venture, [...]

    2. I started reading this just before I went on holiday and ended up taking it with me as I just had to finish it. It really is a very funny book, full of extremely likeable characters.Harriet, the heroine, is a down-to-earth, ordinary girl, caught up in the most extraordinary set of circumstances that take her from life in a launderette, living in a flat in a rather dubious area with her boyfriend, Julian, to a country house in Scotland with a wardrobe full of designer clothes and an aristocratic [...]

    3. She has only gawn and dun it! Lynda Renham is right up there with chick-lit royalty! I'm not talking princess either, for me, the Queen of Chick-lit. This is Lynda's best book yet. Well! I have only read two previously and this one tops them both. I love all the characterisations of both the good and bad cast. Yes, there is some stereotyping, a bit hard to avoid in chick-lit writing but I would not go so far as to say clichéd like so many other books I have read in this genre. Some hilarious si [...]

    4. Harriett believes her life with boyfriend Julian is uneventful until a turn of events sees Julian on the run from gangsters and Harriet agreeing to marry for money.Harriett is none too pleased when she finds out that Julian has not only failed to turn up at her friend's wedding but he is deeper in debt than she realises. Harriett has already given up her nursing training to support Julian's restaurant business, but he has not been honest with her about the state of his affairs. So begins an adven [...]

    5. I thought Lynda's first book 'Wedding Cake to Turin' was funny, but my gosh, this book is fantastically hilarious. The characters are so loveable from the start and they are so different but so right. The ease of writing style has you believing every word. As for a lady who doesn't have a TV she certainly did her homework and every reference is scarily up-to-date and accurate.Lynda never ceases to amaze me, I was eagerly waiting for this book, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would [...]

    6. Oh my Lynda Renham most certainly knows how to get the old chuckle muscles working. I laughed so much reading some of the exploits of Harriet. I have never been disappointed by any of this authors books and this one most certainly never disappointed me.

    7. So so funny. Laughed from the beginning! A film should be made of this, exactly as the book! It would be better than Bridget Jones! Fabulous!

    8. Loved itCouldn't put it down,It's a good book that's funny and draws you in straight Away, loved the ending. All round good book

    9. DisappointedI didn't feel there was much of a storyline to this book and I certainly never got swept up in the romance. The characters were very one dimensional, the plot obvious and really not my cup of tea.

    10. Harriet Lawson's day really doesn't turn out quite as she expected. Coming home to a wrecked flat and a missing boyfriend wasn't her idea of a good day! Harriet soon finds out that her boyfriend has one or two secrets that involve money owed to a gangster family and she has the responsibility to get the money owed before her boyfriend loses body parts! An offer from a wealthy man may just offer Harriet the opportunity to pay off her debts and get her life back on track! All she has to do is get [...]

    11. Not all the mad Jack's in the world could have stopped me reading this little gem! It's no secret, I am a massive fan of Lynda! I find her inspirational, I love her sense of humour and her one liners really do make me laugh out loud. I find her plots interesting, all her characters likeable and I love her ability to bring a character to life. She writes in such an easy way, and her cockney writing accent was spot on making it easy for this cockney to read! Morticia Addams nails, Eton Mess, no li [...]

    12. Firstly I’d like to thank Raucous Publishing for sending me this eBook to read and give an honest review. I have enjoyed other books by Lynda Renham, I love her witty titles and hilarious writing style so I really couldn’t wait to start this one!I’m pleased to say that I wasn’t disappointed, this was just as fun as the previous books I’ve read. The first chapter delightfully explained the title of the book, it also introduced me to three gangsters (who were all called Jack) and Harriet [...]

    13. Arriving home after a posh wedding do, Harriet finds her flat ransacked and her boyfriend AWOL. Gangsters turn up on her doorstep demanding money and in a desperate attempt to raise much needed funds Harriet agrees to act as the fiancée of Hamilton Lancaster, a well-to-do gent set to inherit the family business. When she meets Doctor Brice Edmonds, Harriet finds herself in a complicated situation, well out of her depth. I found The Valentine Present and Other Diabolical Liberties an easy read w [...]

    14. Harriet works in a launderette, lives with her boyfriend Julian, and has a normal life. That is until she arrives home and finds her flay torn Apart and her boyfriend missing. When East End gangsters show up demanding money her life is turned upside down.I have read and loved other books for Lynda Renhams but this is my favorite. I laughed and smiled all the way through it. I love the English slang and language. The character are fun and lovable from the very beginning. The easy writing style pu [...]

    15. I really really enjoyed this book and I am so happy that it is my first giveaway win here on .This was such a great read and Harriet was a hilarious character, who managed to engage me almost instantly. I truly enjoyed witnessing her character deal with the ridiculous situation she ended up in. Furthermore, the supporting characters were equally brilliant - Fi and Alistair were a delight. The story itself is never dull; the plot has been carefully woven with interesting details. The wit was maint [...]

    16. It seems to be my lot to spend time in airports and so it was that I found myself engrossed in this latest offering from Lynda Renham, whose novels have introduced me to the lighter side of literature. I thoroughly enjoyed her previous work and was delighted to love this wonderfully convoluted tale as much if not more. Take a Carry-on film, cross it with Brigitte Jones and add witty one-liners and the odd slap-stick moment and you have the perfect recipe for a curl-up on the sofa or stretch out [...]

    17. Witty, well written, fast paced, with hilarious characters - This book was like a comedy farce mixed up with a good strong storyline that kept you reading to find out what was going to happen next ! I loved the eclectic group of characters in this book that were so diverse they really shouldn't have worked together but they did. My favourite parts that made me laugh out loud everytime,(albeit very non pc), was the way that Harriet and Fiona tried to finish stuttering Alistairs sentences' with wh [...]

    18. To be perfectly honest I didn't even finish the whole book. Really couldn't get into this book. The characters disinterested me that much I completely forgot who was who. I finally gave up without reading the whole book and I absolutely hate giving up on a book but really life is too short

    19. Once again, Lynda Renham did not disappoint. Just like CandJ, TDB/TVBAODL makes me look forward to reading more (if not all) of her books. 'The Valentine Present' felt like a more appropriate title than 'The Dog's Bollocks' though. Then again, it really isn't that much of an issue was a hilarious and wonderful read! And my oh my I wanted to beat Julian to a pulp lol.

    20. Comedy of errorsit was Murphy's law with this poor heroine. I laughed through most of the book at the outrageous circumstances that occurred. it was amazing to see the characters growd change through out the book.

    21. Very good4 stars for this book. It was an easy read and funny. I couldn't put it down, it kept me wanting more.

    22. The Dog's BollocksIt is so good and I really did enjoyed the dry sense of humour, that only the English have. I find it is refreshing and the characters crazy.

    23. Good funny readMy sister recommended this as a funny easy read and it did not disappoint would recommend to anyone and looking forward to the next one.
