    1. If you don't have this in your arsenal, then why are you writing? Or reading, for that matter. I've got a dozen of these hanging around the house. And even though I teach this stuff, go to brush up and refine. Refine . . . . hmmmmmmmmm. Something all America needs, yes? But I like this one because . . .     2. This text was required to be used by all English Composition faculty at one college I taught at. I'm always squeamish to assign a text I haven't had the chance to review ahead of time. While this book certainly has its merits, if given the choice, I would have passed on it.For starters, this book has some good points.
