    1. Matty loves soccer but isn't very good at it, like Gibb. When the team needs a goalie, he volunteers, thinking that he might as well, since he isn't as fast or strong as the other players. He is helped by a college student from Congo to improve at his goalie skills, and ends up doing quite well in a game against a team of foreign students who are really good players. When they need a new goalie, Matty volunteers even though he thinks it is the worst position on the team. His determination and some special coaching make him a much stronger player, but he is still worries that he will let his team down in the big game.The person on the cover looks much older than the actual age of the character, but this works as a benefit in this hi-lo sports book.
