    1. The injustice of reading the best book by the author first is that all the other books will be underwhelming. Solaimalai Ilavarsi by Kalki is an average fare that was a bit too melodramatic to my liking. 2 parallel stories - one in the dreams and one in reality of a revolutionary freedom fighter Kumaralingam. In the dreams, he is the brave prince Ulaganathan who takes refuge in his enemy's Solaimalai palace where he meets the princess Manikkavalli. In reality he takes refuge in the same ruins wh [...]

    4. The story plot is very old. The plot has seen & read in many movies & books. May be because of that I felt a bit boring plot initially. But the book was published in 1947. But it is clear that Kalki has been Pioneer and trend setter in reincarnation plots. our author stands out here. His descriptive writing with perfect words are as usual wonderful. Overall it's not so bad.

    5. Astounding end. I would have satisfied if the ending is success of love. But bcuz it is other way around it has got deep place to feel that painful feelingin my heart. Moreover at the end he mentioned like it was true story, I couldn't bear it on me. So nicely expressed. Hats off. 🙏🏽

    7. A short novel from Kalki but he never fall short to entertain you with his imaginations. The opening lines show the hero treading along a railway track when I expected him to gallop in a horse on the banks of a river. I was expecting a history based novel and my disappointment turned into an amazement when Kalki portrayed the hero in two timelines. Another Kalki entertainer and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

    8. A short novel from Kalki. He tells us a story from two different time periods but well and interestingly differentiated from each other. At times, I feel, there was some intentionally added lines (interesting ones) to let the reader have a tough time understanding it. But once settled in the story, never kept the book down. became slightly predictable towards the end. Sure recommended for a one quick read.

    9. Excellent narration from Kalki Really enjoyed his way of describing each and every scenes The way of correlating dream and real was awesome I would always have this book in my favourite shelf :) :)

    10. An excellent novel with two timelines, both has love and patriotism. The characters are depicted nicely with their past lives. The love in this novel is awesome.

    11. It's a very good written heart breaking love story during the reign of British in India. Very nice imagination from Kalki that combining the story of Kumaralingam with a history of a Kingdom.
