    1. I am somewhat ambivilent about this book. On the plus side, it offers tremendous insight into what was a deeply arcane and inaccessible subject. A book on alchemy that treats the subject with respect and yet doesn't seek to solely explain it away as a precursor to "real science", is remarkably hard to find. I for one am drawn to the esoteric beliefs of the ancient adepts, and therefore to find their practice reduced to a quaint trinket made obsolete by our current "enlightened" mentality, is vag [...]
