    1. 2. Officially one of my most favorite writers now, R.S. Guthrie scores big with Lost and tucks another winner for the Clan of MacAulay under his belt. Like Black Beast, Lost is a well-written nail-biter, showcasing a protagonist who could never be accused of being one-dimensional. Detective Robert MacAulay—a tough as nails, big-hearted fellow who is no stranger to tragedy— is so exceptionally developed that he seems real, adding to the overall suspense of the story because you just don’t want [...]

    3. LOST: An independent novel reviewWith his second novel, RS Guthrie has hit his stride.Lost is the sequel to the very good Black Beast, and features the same protagonist, Denver detective “Bobby Mac” Macaulay. This story pursues the same themes: an unending struggle against ancient evil, fought by a man destined to be virtue’s champion. This second installment in the Clan of MacAulay series is leaner than the first, with a tighter writing style. It’s an enjoyable, fast and easy read, but i [...]

    4. Last year I discovered Detective Bobby MacAuley in this author's excellent first novel, Black Beast. He's back with the second book in the MacAuley Clan series, LOST, and this one too is a winner. The plot moves at a breakneck clip as strange events start occurring in a small town up in Idaho, where Bobby Mac's brother, Jax, serves as chief of police. A man murders his wife and one daughter, telling authorities the devil abducted his other daughter. Then two other girls are kidnapped. Soon it bec [...]

    5. Black Beast, the first book in this series, was so good that obviously I was really looking forward to reading the second book in the Bobby Mac series. And I am very happy that my waiting for the book didn't disappoint me. This book is so good that it was really hard to put it down every night to go and have some sleep. The characters are so well described and their personalities so well developed, that you feel them as being very alive. Bobby Mac is one of those heroes that you cannot forget, o [...]

    6. Didn't like anywhere near as much as I did BLACK BEASTI really enjoyed the first book in this Bobby Mac series - "Black Beast." I think it was because so much of the first book was a police procedural rather than getting into the supernatural. I tend to like the police business more than I do the demon business. In this offering, Bobby Mac heads to the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area with his girlfriend to help his police chief brother Jax with the disappearance of a young girl.I'm not quite sure why I [...]

    7. I received a free download of Lost (Clan of Macaulay)" by R. S. Guthrie from the writer to read on my Kindle.I have to admit this is the first time I have read anything by this author. What an amazing author! I plan to read the first book in this series shortly, but it can still be read as a stand alone novel. This book is so good that I was unable to put it down, until I had finished it.The characters are so well described and their personalities so well developed, that you feel them right besid [...]

    8. Copied from my Review:It's always a pleasure to read a sequel that doesn't let down the first book. Both "Black Beast" and "LOST" are unapologetically "Good-vs-Evil" stories. There are few, if any, shades of grey: Evil is vicious; the Hero is Good, (but flawed); God has a Plan. I'm more than happy to rock along with all of that because Guthrie delivers on this premise.LOST, being the second instalment in his "Clan MacAulay" series, meshes well with Black Beast and delivers on its own arc. It al [...]

    9. Lost is the sequel to black beast, I was so excited about this brilliant book by an equally brilliant author!I read this book in a very short space of time, Bobby Mac is back more determined and stronger than ever There are demons and monsters through out this book, it has you sitting on the edge of your seat from start to finish, Bobby Mac discovers that his blood line is in mortal danger, his pregnant girlfriend goes missing, then an apparition appears before Bobby Mac, it takes him a long whi [...]

    10. I am a huge fan of R.S. Guthrie's writing. The descriptive way he writes puts you in the middle of the scene to the point your heart starts to race at the crucial points, your palms begin to sweat. Yet you can't stop reading - you have to know what is coming next and it's never what you expected and better than you could have imagined. He weaves the story in such a manner that you don't want to let it go until it's done. R. S. Guthrie captures it all: mystery, suspense, thriller, and romance in [...]

    11. After reading the first book in the Bobby Mac series I was always going to be one of the first in line for LOST. Having bought it, I read it in one day! Bobby Mac is reunited with Agent Byrne and we are introduced to his brother, Jackson. Also back are cousin Meyer and old enemy father Rule, still intent on the destruction of good.I won’t give anything away regarding the plot, but suffice it to say Guthrie’s prose will sweep you along in a beautifully written story with characters you can re [...]

    12. When you are really enjoying a good book, you can't believe it ends so quickly. That is how I felt about this book. I read it in 24 hours and I wished it was longer. I love Bobby Mac. I will admit it was strange reading a book where the girl who was abducted had my first and last name. I felt like I had bought one of those books for kids that you can have personalized with the kids name in it as a character.I was sad to read that the author only plans one more book in this series. I plan to read [...]

    13. Do not particularly like demons and ghosts in a story, but read this series with an open mind.I do like Bobby Mac though so I will read the last book in the series to complete the cycle.I will however, try in the future not to read any more stories with demons and ghosts. I am more areality gal.

    14. Some time ago I read Black Beast, the first episode of the Clan of Macaulay series, and I really liked it so I was sure this would have been a good read. Actually I liked Lost even more than the previous one! There's action, a bit of introspection, feelings, suspence the right mix to have an entertaining, absorbing and difficul to put down thriller.

    15. This sequel picks up a short time after the end of the first book. It's full of mayhem but takes a while to work out what is really going down. There's a red herring that I'm not really sure works properly which is why I took off one star but overall eminently readable (one day - just after reading the last few pages of the first book).

    16. I enjoyed the book. There was one discrepancy between the first in the series and this book regarding the military life of the hero. However, that was easily overlooked in the fight between good and evil.

    17. Devils and demons are just not my thing! I did finish reading this. It was very short. But will not seek other books in this series or even in this genre!
