    1. These stories were originally printed for Youth's Companion. Great fun! An excellent read-aloud, after the first paragraph of each chapter I couldn't wait to read more. Ambitious, hard-working boys who battle the elements turn a dollar in creative ways, while showing great respect for their elders and the girls in their household.

    2. For anyone who loves MAine, old time country living and wonders how kids were so "grown up" in the old days.

    3. Love this book. I read it many years ago, and have been reading aloud some of the stories to my son. It is especially fun to read while camping.
