    1. This is a story about a race of many intriguing work trucks through the streets of Trucktown. It becomes especially funny if children study the bold, bright, expressive illustrations and text carefully. During the truck race lots of slap stick humor is provided. The trick of Lucy Ladder Truck whizzing around a tree to dislodge a stick frightening competitor Melvin Mixer with worried eyes, to a grinding halt, is very clever. All of the personified, lively trucks have expressive eyes (headlights), [...]

    2. Age: Toddler-KindergartenConcept Skill: ABCsThings that go: TrucksEvery great author has his bad apple. The artwork is fun but the rhythm of the text is chaotic and hard to read, and the emphasis on the letters lacks and feels secondary to MAKING A LOT OF NOISE AND ACTION VROOOOOOOM! The only word for K is the truck's name (Kat) and Scieszka uses "wrecker" to describe the R truck which can cause confusion. And, adding more confusion, scary Big Rig is supposedly playing a xylophone, because we al [...]

    3. I usually like Trucktown books. Maybe it's the difference of Scieszka not working on it. The illustrations are fine but the story needs serious work. From capitalizing a letter in every word it appears in to using the name of a vehicle as the letter- such a Kat for K. One vehicle is used for e engine, f fire truck and l ladder truck. This is a disappointment coming from a team who works with someone connected to boys read.

    4. I imagine my nephew will like this book because he like cars and the illustration will catch his attention for sure. I just like how the author make the sentences simple and how the sentence match the illustration. It is a creative idea for an alphabet book. One thing I guess all kids will remember form the book is the ice cream car because all kids love ice cream.

    5. Mama read this to me this morning as I got ready for school. I love trucks, and I really like pointing at the characters on the endpapers and asking their names. I'm also learning the alphabet, so I knew some of the letters as they came up in the book.

    6. RACE FROM A TO ZI dare ANY little boy--or girl!--to NOT enjoy this book. There are vehicles of EVERY type racing in all kinds of situations and the fun never lets up! You feel like you're on the race yourself. SO much fun, as is always the case with any book by Jon Scieszka!

    7. Fun illustration and noises, but not a strong representation for the entire alphabet. Still fun for a truck loving toddler.
