    1. What do an overweight Princess, an African-American Baptist minister, a nuclear bomb, UFOs, a pornographic movie producer, Mickey Mouse and Elvis have in common? They are all intertwined in Anne R. Allen’s new book – FOOD OF LOVE. While the main plot revolves around someone trying to kill Princess Regina, the story is truly told in flashback diary scenes, which take us back to the 60’s counterculture and what happens to two foster sisters, one white, one black, growing up in Boston. 2. What can I say this book has everything: mystery, romance, Royalty, assassins, Hollywood celebrity, international spys, Porn Movie mogul, Baptist ministers, models, R&B diva, stealth helicopters, swat team This is definitely a fast paced book, hysterically fun with a bit of soul wrenching thrown in to keep you off balance. I finished the book in one sitting! If you enjoy fun chick lit this is your author! I will be looking for more Anne Allen reads in the future!

    3. What a delightful read! Funny and charming, and kept me turning pages until it was done. Nice dose of feminism (even if it is a bit on the naïve side), with a well built story to go along with it.The romance was cute, but it wasn't the main focus of the writing (thank god!) and it didn't get in the way. The characters are all different, well developed, and captivating. The constant moto, "what is this obsession of ours with thinness, especially in women", is a very much necessary and yet somewh [...]

    4. I really wanted to like Food of Love. It's received several positive reviews on and has an earnestness about it that's nice, but it just gave me a "meh" feeling. I never found myself caring much for any of the characters, though the book did have some funny moments. Maybe I'm just missing something here that I should have seen

    5. I was pleasantly surprised with this read as I had never read anything by this author before. It was a mystery from a comical view. Regina is flighty but funny and her sister, Cady, is pretentious but ultimately human. There is also a surprise ending. I would definitely recommend this book. Very enjoyable read.
