    3. This was a good book about a kid that has these powers to travel into time, to meet his favorites player. This is his first adventure back in time, he meets Honus Wagner and they are able to travel back with him. This was a good book, this book inspires you to pursue your dreams, and to be a good person. 4. I thought this book was really interesting and I really enjoyed it. It’s about this kid named Joe who finds a baseball card in this lady’s attic. When he touches it he gets this weird feeling and he finds out he can travel back in time to when the card was made. This card was Honus Wagner’s card and Joe gets to meet him but he faces some difficulties and has to work through them. I’m not gonna tell you what they are your just gonna have to read the book and find out. This is a great book [...]

    5. This book was very good. I loved it because of all of the facts that were in it about Honus. I learned a lot about Honus that I didn't know about him. Joe found a Honus Wagner baseball card in an old ladies attic that he was cleaning up for her. He put the card in his backpack and went home after finishing. That night he went to bed with the card in his hands and when he woke up Honus was there.

    6. part of the fun of working with kids and books is catching up on YA lit and inhabiting the mind of a 12-year old for a few weeks. this book, the first in a series, is completely hokey, with cheesy dialogue and a cartoonish villain, but it works. a boy stumbles upon a 1909 honus wagner baseball card in an old lady's attic, a monumental discovery in and of itself, but then learns he can bring the player to life and travel back through time just by touching it, to the year on the card. forget kids, [...]

    7. I just got done reading an amazing fictional book called Honus and me by Dan Gutman. A boy named joe has this magical power to go back in time by using a baseball card. This time joe does something different. Honus wagnor is a pro baseball player that used to play long ago. He went to meet honus back in 1919 but he didn't. To find out what happens read this great book.

    8. If you have an elementary school kid that loves baseball, they'll probably enjoy this book. The main character finds a Honus Wagner baseball card and has to decide what to do with it. There is some good history on Wagner (ex-Pirate).

    9. Over my April vacation, I read a phenomenal book called Honus & Me. The book is about a young boy named Joe Stoshack who found an old baseball card while cleaning out his neighbor’s attic. He wonders if he should keep it or not because it is worth $500,000. This baseball card magically takes him back in time to 1909 to meet baseball great Honus Wagner. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars because it never got boring and always kept me eager to read on. Another reason why I really liked thi [...]

    10. Of course my baseball-obsessed 5 1/2 year old is totally into this series of books. He even checks out the ones we've not read yet, and just pages through them, "reading" them, for the pictures and a preview. But my not-so-baseball-obsessed daughter Lorelei, his big sister, is now into them just as much. They are all about baseball, but they're also really good, interesting stories. This was my least favorite of the ones we've read (Satch & Me, Jackie & Me are the others behind us--both [...]

    11. Personal reaction: I loved reading this book and kids will love it too! While it is a book about sports, which will attract the boys in your class, it is also a great read for girls! Even if you know nothing about baseball this book is easy to follow and you wont want to set it down until your finished. I will definitely recommend this book to my students.Although this book involves time travel the author does a good job making this fantasy book seem realistic. Another reason that students will [...]

    12. PLOT- Joe was a kid that loved baseball, he had found a 1909 Honus Wagner card while cleaning his 90 year old neighbors attic so he took it, because he knew it was worth a lot of money. 15. I really enjoyed this book! I am a big baseball fan, and a big Pirates fan as well, so I was excited when I saw I was assigned to read this book for class. I was expecting this book to be a bit more about baseball, but I was pleasantly surprised by what actually happened in the book. I definitely thought that the time travel aspect of the book was one of the neatest things about the book. I also thought that the book had a great lesson to go along with it. I think that this book would be a good [...]

    16. I've read most of the books of this series but this book is probably my favorite. This text tells the story of the Stoshack family. They are extremly poor and need some money and they need it fast. So Joey Stoshack a kid was offered to clean the attic of their neighbor Mrs. Young. She offered to pay him five dollars. Finally he expecpted. I can tell you the attic very messy. When he's about to finish he notices a box of baseball cards. There he finds magic, a very rare baseball card, reading Hon [...]

    17. 1. Personal Reaction: I think personally I would've liked this book more if I was into baseball. But, either than that I liked the story between joey and Miss Young. Joey finding a baseball card in Ms. Youngs attic of a famous old star baseball athlete Honus. Honus takes Joey in future time to show him what life would be like. Then eventually Honus takes Miss Young back into the old times. I would've really enjoyed this book if I was into baseball a lot more. But, either than that it was a good [...]

    18. This book is a fine choice for young baseball fans. There are a lot of good things in here. The main character, Joe Stoshack, is dealing with some tricky issues, like understanding his parents' divorce, struggling to make ends meet, being made fun of by his peers for his appearance, and making tough choices between right and wrong. It is kind of cool to learn a little more about the world of baseball and one of its great players. You can tell the author is a baseball fan and a bit of a historian [...]

    19. Personal Response: I enjoyed the fact this story strayed beyond being simply about baseball. Joey is a relatable character for his awkward and insecure characteristics. He feels uncomfortable in his own skin, but begins to gain confidence in his abilities and appearance with the help of Honus Wagner, a professional baseball player. I loved the combination of sports, fantasy, and romance.Purposes-independent read: Coming-of-age stories are wonderful in being relatable to children, especially thos [...]

    20. Honus & Me is a phenomenally written book by author Dan Gutman. Its about a young boy named Joe Stoshack (Stosh for short) who has a mysterious ability to travel through time, but only through baseball cards. Which isn't much of a problem considering he loves baseball. While one day cleaning an attic of a older lady named Amanda Young he discovers a very rare T-206 Honus Wagner card. At first he wants to sell but after getting nearly scammed by the baseball shop card owner, he decides to vis [...]

    21. Personal Reaction: I didn't particularly enjoy this book, but there are some elements that kept me intrigued throughout the story. I am a big sports fan, but not so much a baseball fan. But, the fantasy element and time traveling kept me wanting to read on and see what was going to happen throughout the story. Purpose/Classroom Use: -I think this book would be great for independent reading for young students who enjoy baseball, particularly boys.- Also, it would be good for students who enjoy fa [...]

    22. Personal Reaction: I found this book to be surprisingly engaging. I am not much of a sports fan, and certainly not attracted to sports literature, but I think this book goes so much further than that. I was never much of a fantasy reader as a child, so needless to say this book combined aspects that I was not familiar with reading, and I ended up liking it! This book presented moral conflict, historical baseball elements, I love that this book teaches readers to follow their dreams and do what m [...]

    23. I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would! A twelve-year-old boy finds a mint-condition baseball card that's worth a half-million dollars -- but it's real value turns out to be as the key to meeting baseball hero Honus Wagner! I get a little nostalgic about baseball and baseball cards (it reminds me of my childhood with two brothers!) and I enjoy learning new things about history, and this book had both. I had never heard of Wagner, but his sports story was an interesting one, and it w [...]

When Joe was cleaning out the attic he found a baseball card which happened to be one of the rarest of all times, with half a million dollars. Joe would know that because he is a baseball card collector. The same day Joe went into his room and was holding the card thinking " I wish I could meet Honus Wagner". Eventually he [...]

    27. Honus & Me Honus & Me is a book I have learned a lot from and enjoy very much. Honus & Me is written by Dan Gutman and is another book just like Jackie & Me. Joe goes back in time and meets a famous baseball player and experiences what it’s like to be such a professional baseball player. I think Honus & Me is one of the best books for kids that love a good story about baseball. Joe is trying to find the famous baseball card of Honus Wagner to go back in time and find him. B [...]

    29. What a wonderful children's book! Absolutely wonderful story that will spark children's imaginations. It sparked mine as well, as I imagined how it is that my grandpa came to love baseball so much. Honus is, at least as depicted in this book, one of those rare athletes that deserved the praise he got, that was actually a good role model. The game of baseball in the early 1900's was described as a game of skill and wits instead of the brute force megalomaniacal drug fest it (and too many other sp [...]

    30. In this book there are three main characters; Stosh, Flip, and Honus. This book is set in Louisville, which is where the baseball hall of fame is. Stosh, a teenage boy, plays for a baseball team coached by Flip. Flip is a father figure to Stosh and is very inspiring to him. Flip owns a card shop and knows almost everything to know about cards. So when Stosh is given an old baseball card he doesn't know much about he brings it to Flip. Flip can't beileve what he is seeing, the most rare baseball [...]
