    1. As a child I was fascinated by lighthouses and loved reading books about Mr Grindling and his job as a lighthouse keeper. I hadn't come across this particular story before and found that it gave the same images.It would be a useful book to have, if supporting children whose parts work during the Christmas period, as a way of helping them understand about what is it like being away from loved ones at times when you want to be together.

    2. This is quite a long read, so definitely one for older K2 children or above, or one to read together at home, and it is a book from my own childhood, which has stood the test of time. Although lighthouses may be unfamiliar to Hong Kong children, there are possibilities for discussion of different kinds of building and what it might be like to live in a lighthouse. There are many challenges to be overcome for the Lighthouse Keeper to have his Christmas lunch, and how will Santa come when there is [...]

    3. Great little Christmas story for those who still believe in Father Christmas. The lighthouse keeper's last Christmas as keeper. The seagulls play their part too.
