    1. English Title: The Face Burglar This compilation is more suspense than the more grotesque variety of horror Ito's famous for. It's not my absolute favorite of his collection, but it's still haunting and naturally, beautiful-looking art. Trigger warning that there is a heavy theme of suicide in this book. The Face Burglar - 5/5This one also appeared in Museum of Terror, Vol. 3, and is one of my favourite short stories. I'm a bit envious of the antagonist's shape-shifting power. This woman can have [...]

    2. The BasicsA collection of horror one-shots. The title story tells of a tragic and dangerous shape-shifter, a stealer of faces. My ThoughtsAs opposed to the previous volume, this was definitely more on track of what I love to see from Ito. In particular, “Falling” captured perfectly that penchant for tragedy that Ito has. His horror becomes more effective not just for the cosmic nature of it in most of what he writes, but for the empathy with the characters. In the case of “Falling”, we ar [...]

    3. I love Junji Ito because his stories are always creepy and interesting, and the art is amazing. These aren't really scary in a gory way, but they leave you with a weird feeling and a different way of thinking. My favorites were "The Hanging Balloons" and "Scarecrows".

    4. I freaking love Junji Ito, Sensei!* * * Hibino: "Now you listen. I'm not interested in stolen beauty." Buuuuurn!* * *The chapter Scarecrows is distuuuuurbing. Reminds me of the film Jeepers Creepers* * *So is this 'red string' business about love? I think it's about cutting off a person in your life because sometimes it's too much and it's suffocating you. But boy is this chapter creepy.* * *For the chapter My Dear Ancestors, welp, that's a great one. One of my favorites.

    5. All of the stories in this collection are good. The Face Burglar is a pretty creepy concept. Scarecrows and The Hanging Balloons have images that I'm likely to remember for a long time. I like My Dear Ancestors the least, but it would be a great story in a collection whose stories were not as good.Falling is my favorite story in the collection. It is very creepy. A few scenes gave me goosebumps. It also includes some of the common themes in Junji Ito's work.

    6. This collection has a few of my favorite Junji ito stories such as 'Falling', 'The Red String', and 'The Hanging Balloon.' I also enjoyed 'Face Burglar' though the main girl (our protagonist) wasn't particularly likable.

    7. Early Junji Ito comics. Not very disgusting, but significantly creepy. As the critic in the back notes, a lot of the appeal here is the horror + fantastical situation.

    8. He really hits his stride here, most of the pieces here are a real delight in that way he has that I love.
