    1. This two in one book was a slow read for me. I just couldn't seem to get into the stories that much, but finished anyway because I don't like to half read a book.

    2. Two novellas brought together from 1980. "Lord of the High Lonesome" is about Kit Bonner, the illegitimate daughter of the English Baron that owns the ranch in the N.D. badlands she manages with her grandfather. When the new baron, MD horseman Reese Talbot arrives to inspect the property, Kit falls in love but has to get over her hangups about the title and her parentage. Fortunately Reese is a distant relative because they do eventually work it out.The main character of "Heart of Stone" is Step [...]

    3. In the first storyThe plot in he first story is a bit different. A baron own the ranch in N.Dakota and has come to inspect it. That really got Kit's ire up! She is a very strong-willed woman with stronger defenses--until the baron discovers her secret. The second story is a piece of trash! Rich, powerful, spoiled Brock Canfield delights in using women, then spitting them out and discarding themI gave this a 2 star because of the second story-rating should have been lower, but the first story was [...]

    4. Typical romances. While this is an old book, the 2nd story, Heart of Stone, hit a sore spot for me. It is a man the spitting image of Trump in behavior. Yet this romance tells women that a man who takes what he wants without asking is a hero in a romance. But yet Trump is vilified for doing the same. I can't imagine falling for a man like this and I don't like romances that say a man like this is something to fall in love with. But it's the hypocrisy of it that really galls me! People hate Trump [...]

    5. Janet Dailey is really my fave. Her books just have this magic wherein when you start reading it, you can barely put it down until it's finish. This is her second book I've read and I can't wait to read more of her works. No words can describe how exactly I feel. It's just that after reading, I can't get enough of it. Like I want more. It's just so perfect.

    6. Lesson learned from this book: When you're planning on reading as your entertainment on a flight be sure to pack a back up book in case your first choice turns out to be awful. The book has two "short" stories, but it was like reading the same one twice. Horribly boring and not at all well-written.

    7. My first 'holiday' book of the 2006 seasono cute stories about romance at Christmas timeComplete different settings, but just as expected both have happy endings!I just LOVE this time of the year!bookcrossing/journal/1

    8. Cheesy yet adorable little stories. Quick read. I still think "Stephanie" picked the wrong man but hey it's her divorce. ;-)

    9. Two books in one: 1) Lord of the high lonesome; and 2) Heart of Stone by an author I didn't know before. more
