  1. All the four plays contribute to the idea of the futility of life and the disillusionment of the American plays. I liked most "The gallows humour", because it takes place in a prison and because the whole plot was novel and original. I also liked "The typists"; as it is the first play to have actors actually age on stage. The other two were ok, but I didn't enjoy much; they were too open and too straightforward.
