    1. This is another gardening book more suited to beginners. It does, however, provide more depth than 'Idiot's Guide: Vegetable Gardening' by John Tullock. The design, text size and plethora of images are excellent for someone new to gardening. I also thought the section on transplanting was particularly well constructed.     2. This had some useful information. I hoped that an "ultimate" guide on food growing would include some information on quantity - how much of certain plants one needs to grow to feed a family for a year. Still, as a beginner gardener I did learn quite a bit.

    3. An easy to follow book. I read what I needed or felt relevant to me. The book is filled with information, in all areas of growing your own food. I recommend this book for beginners. Not written in any chapters, just keeps flowing. But, it does have a helpful index.

    4. Was super quick and easy to get through, and covered all the basics I needed to get started. The authors grow food in the Ozark region so it was also relatively close to where I am, so their examples made a lot of sense. My main critique though is that toward the end they introduce some new gardening jargon and don't go into detail about what it means or how to do some of the techniques they mention, so I'm not sure "ultimate" is the right word.
